I saw my midwife at 24 weeks who measured my fundal height as 28 weeks in size.

today i saw her again at 24 +4 and she says i am measuring at 36 weeks!!!!

i am having an ultrasound in the morning (about 730pm aussie time) to check all is ok but has anyone else had this? And been this far out?

Previous scans have shown baby as being right size for dates. This is my second, i have dd born 6 1/2 yrs ago by c-section. the midwife looked a little worried when she saw how much i had expanded since i saw her just 4 weeks ago.

i'm not too worried but i am starting to feel and look like a hippo, i'm uncomfortable and my bump hurts like hell. i feel like i'm going to explode, its not pleasant.

just wanting stories really and hope that i am not too much of freak!!!!

I just wanted to let you know that you're not a freak!:o

DS measured big for dates too (although by only 2-3 weeks). I don't envy you as I know how uncomfortable a big bump can be.

Only a few more weeks to go though!:hugs: :D

G was always ahead for his dates too - but only a couple of weeks. He was 9pnd 1 when he was born at 37weeks 6 days... and weighs in at 8.6kg now at 15 weeks!

There are some pics of my belly in my link in my sig! I got really big...

try not to worry too much about it
i was the size of a small block of units
they told me my son would be approx 5kg if he went to his due date
i was so scared. they gave me a c/s 9 days early and were estimating 4.5kg..... he was 3.7kg. Goodluck :fingerscrossed: and :hugs:

This is a bit different.. but I had twice weekly ultrasounds for the last few months of my pregnancy and I was told 8lb+ all along. the day she was born I was told she would be 9lb+... she was born weighing 7lb5ounces! Even scans can be wrong!

You could have a lot of fluid or they could just get it wrong. I had a hind leak and when DD was born there was almost no amniotic fluid left in there but she was still 2lbs smaller than they thought she was going to be!!

Mine wasn't nearly as out as yours is but I measured 44cm (or 44 weeks) at 36 weeks. That was my first ob appointment and it was a huge surprise as the midwives had always measured me as being 'right for dates'. Actually it was a bit of a relief too because my belly was huge and the midwives were driving me nuts saying it was normal.

Also I think all people measure you differently. Was it the same midwife that measured you each time?

In the end I had a normal VB at 38+5. I had my waters broken to get things going but would have had him any tick of the clock on my own anyway. No drugs, bub was 8'11' or 3.94kg. Small tear no stitches. I had heaps of fluid and that seemed to be the cause for the huge belly. That and because I was carrying all out front.

You should get some answers from the scan but try not tro stress. All women are differen and I'm sure there's a reason. Hopefully it will resolve quickly because you don't want to start being this uncomfortable at 24 weeks. That's meant to start in the last few weeks.

Good luck with it and let us know how you go.:hugs:

Don't panic too much yet. My personal best was with my DS2.
I measured 45cms at 39weeks. He was born 11lb 4oz (5.01kg). There can be a number of reasons for fundal heights not being right. They are only a guide. Big bubs, excess fluid, incorrect measuring technique and plain old body type can make a lot of differences. I am glad that are doing an ultrasound for you. It can be very reassuring.

Let us know how things go.

Dont worry you're not a freak!

This baby has consistantly measured about 3 weeks further along throughout my whole pregnancy.

Hi Caroline,

I was measureing 30-32 weeks at 24 weeks, then at 28 weeks measuring 32 weeks so bubs is sort of catching up with himself! ( im now nearly 30wks) Had a scan at 24wks because of measuring large but couldnt find any problems, may just be a big baby, baby in funny position, incorrect measurments, excess fluid, try not to worry :)

i suppose my main concern is that the baby itself has always measured exact for dates but my uterus is expanding beyond normal limits for dates (way beyond normal limits for dates) and its hard to work out why.

I am hoping that my scan in a couple of hours will clarify this and that there is nothing seriously wrong. But i am huge, hippoish and very uncomfortable. If I am 28 weeks measuring at 36 weeks now, god knows how large i shall be when i am due to have my c-section in the last week of november. They'll need a crane to shift me!!!!!

I had my scan. The fluid levels are fine, and baby is thriving. It seems to have a head measuring nearly 3 weeks large for dates and a tummy measuring nearly 4 weeks large for dates.

I have the gluclose tolerance test next week (its only given in the uk if indicated) to see if that is why it has a tummy that is too big for its gestational age. If its not that then i shall have to have other tests to check its abdominal area is developing ok.

they did say I may just carry bigger babies than average so not to worry. My dd was born 6 1/2 yrs ago at 35 weeks gestation weighing 2.88kgs - a darn good weight for her age, so they are taking that into consideration also.

:fingerscrossed: all will be ok. i am fairly positive it will be.

Thanks for all your good wishes though.:hugs:
