Just wanted to share my excitement. Ds slept through the night! Hooray..... I'm so pleased. I feel almost 'normal' today. :D I crept in at 6am just to make sure he was OK. :o He was sleeping like a baby. hehe.

(And I feel for all the mums and dads that had to get up during the night :( )

Hi

Congrats on your sleep!! How exciting!

I remember the first time Andrew did that I was so scared! Like you, crept in to make sure he was still breathing! Even now it still surprises me when I wake up in the morning and realise I haven't had to get up.

I always thought it was funny that we spend so long waiting for that 'sleeping through' and then when we get it, we worry that something sinister might be going on!

Heres hoping for many more nights of interrupted sleep for you and bub! :)

OH, I am so jealous! Congratulations! :) Libby has never slept through (except for a brief glitch where she slept 3 nights in a row from 6pm to 4am if that counts). Did you do CC or anything, or did bubs just decide to do it on his own?
Thanks for your support for Mums and Dads up in the night - look at my post in Friends Chat "a rotten night"..... :(

Aww wonderful news to hear for Tuesday morning (Aussie time!) he he

Like Nicole79, when Thomas did sleep thru for the first time we were so scared, even DH got up couple times kept checking on him make sure that he’s breathing and all, or worse we thought that the monitor might need new battery or wasnt working properly etc etc because it was so dead quiet! LOL

Great stuff! :D

Oh Nickster, I hope it happens soon for you. Well ds was almost getting there about a month ago, and then teething sent things a bit whacko. I think it was just a combination of being a bit more tired and the teething pain eased off a bit. But who really knows?

I read somewhere recently that boys often take a little longer to sleep through than girls, but maybe it's just up to the individual.

Actually I stopped wrapping him about 4 days ago... maybe that made a difference?

All fingers crossed for tonight......

Me too....
Can I ask a question... DS is almost 6 months, he wakes up at around 3 - 4am in the morning for a feed (he drinks the whole bottle) then goes back down till about 6.30am. Should I leave him to decide when he is ready to drop his 3 - 4am bottle or should I somehow encourage him to sleep through till 6.30am, so I can start to get a better routine with him??

Hi Harmony

My bub used to wake around 3ish too. I think it was around 6 months that I started trying to resettle him instead of feeding him. If he didn't resettle after a few attempts, then I would feed him. Sometimes though I would only let him have 1 boob and then put him back to bed. So he didn't expect a full feed at that hour of the morning. He always went back to sleep fine. The past few weeks he has woken at 3ish and we have resettled him with no feed. Every few nights he just sleeps right through now. Every few nights he will wake up again, but we just persist with resettling.

Our rule is no night feed unless he is sick or otherwise not well (ie teething). Or if he is absolutely screaming the house down ropable! But he doesn't get fed just cos he is awake, if you know what i mean?

I hope that made some sense!

Hey Cathy, well done to you both. I DREAM of the day Spencer sleeps through. We've been through a really bad patch recently where he would wake up at 12midnight and then every hour after that until 5am. I'm working hard this week at eradicating that and every night it's getting better and better. Fingers crossed that soon we'll be like you and Max :D

Hi guys - I feel all warm and fuzzy from your lovely comments.

I don't have any answers, I just think it is a combination of factors that makes them sleep through. We haven't been feeding Max at night now for a while unless all other settling techniques aren't working and he's obviously starving. I think he has got the message now.

But fingers crossed for tonight again........ 3 nights in a row would be a miracle!

Good luck mums, it might happen to you any day now (it took us by surprise).

Hi
My 14week bub just started sleeping through the night last week.........so I've had 8 nights of straight sleep. My bub is bottle fed so this may makes things easier. I read that at 3-4mths babies usually go into a deeper sleep and are old enough to drop a night feed. At 2am the first night Bub stirred and let out a little cry but settled herself back to sleep. I still can't believe she's sleeping through and still wake in the middle of the night, listening out for her, but only for a minute or so. So if bub wakes in the middle of the night when they usually have a feed listen for a bit before you go in and pick him/her up. They may go back to sleep. I also read that you can make a time to get up and go into bub, say 6am, and let bub play by themselves if they wake before then if they are happy to do so. They will soon get into a routine of getting up at 6am like you. My bub now wakes anywhere between 5.30 and 7.30. On Sunday she slept til 8am. What a miracle!
Good luck. Sleepless nights aren't forever (thank god!!!)

:( It's 3.45am. I guess 2 out of 3 aint bad. A little someone was verrrrrrry hungry tonight and I had to give in. Now I'll just finish this cup of camomile tea and try and get back to sleep....zzzzzz.

It's so hard when they tease you isn't it?
Coban was sleeping through the night from 7 weeks but he started teething at 3.5 months so that went out the window!! :(

I hope he starts sleeping through soon because i am getting soooo tired. Last night was a bit of a nightmare and i expect there will be many more nights like this as i can see a tooth sitting under the gum just waiting to pop up!

Oh well...
