Awww :bee: I remember reading when you were first pregnant, I didn't know you'd had your little one. Congrats :)
ETA, well, when SWMBO was pregnant anyway ;)

Thanks MrsBeee. We have a 10 week old bundle of joy affectionately known as Little Bugger (LB).

Unfortunately, LB has just decided to live up to his nickname and crapped in the bath being shared with SWMBO.

This is one of those times where a) I'm not allowed to laugh and b) LB is declared to be my son as SWMBO has disowned him until he next does something cute (I'll give him 5 minutes!).

Cheers

I have to agree that I would be pretty traumatised at having the bath water....browned!

Congrats on the arrival of LB

I'm glad that my tales of domestic bliss could liven up your Friday evenings. I'm off to see if SWMBO is in the mood.

If I'm back in 5 minutes you know I got lucky. If not, the electric blanket and my flannelette PJs have done their job.

Sweet dreams

LOL, mate, as I'd say to the wife - It's all good, it wasn't me!

I know that you are all hanging out for the next installment...

Friday evening was bloody cold, so neither of us could find the will to get out of our flannelette PJs. Plus, any movement under the covers would've only let the cold air in!

Cheers

Well that was a lot less exciting than I was expecting/ hoping for!

One of the reasons that I live in Queensland is that it is NEVER too cold however it is sometimes way too hot!!!!

Which is why people have air conditioning!

Big congrats on the arrival of LB, my LB has just turned ten!

Sorry to disappoint!

I would make a comment about heat and wetness in QLD but that might lower the tone ;)

It ain't no good if you are in the jungle!

This is the DADS CHAT area. Feel free to lower the tone (in a tasteful way) whenever you like!

Tell me about it. We're just starting to enter the month or two each year where the night time temperature actually falls below 20. I went outside last night and actually felt chilly!

Bliss...

LOL I know that feeling.

DD once was happily splashing in the bath with me when she did a little fart, I giggled cuz it was cute...until the familiar grunting started and she did 3 big poopies...Problem was, DF wasnt home and as I tried holding her out of the poopie water, she started kicking her feet smooshing into tiny peices...I had to get up covered in the mess, pop her on a towel on the floor outside the bathroom and then quickly shower before tending to her haha
(i then took a photo of it to add to her embaressing 21st photo collection cuz im such a mean mummy) :)

PS. What does SWMBO mean?

I wonder if I could get DF to call me that haha

Definitely one of the positives of FIFO'ing to the Top End for work! However, these couple of months seem to go past way too damn quickly, and before you know it, the build up blues are back :(

We go away for winter rather than summer because of the heat. We go south to Kalbarri every year for a couple of weeks, simply because we know it'll be cold and rainy.

Living with the ridiculous heat for ten months of the year, we ust don't see the point in blowing our holiday fund going south over Christmas, just to get MORE hot weather.

Our friends and family in Perth think we're crazy, but those two weeks in Kalbarri are the best circuit breaker we could hope for.

Haha, had to laugh, because the exact same thing happened to me the first time I had a bath with my LB!!!

(oh, and it sounds like you need to invest in a heater!! :p)

DL: that's a solid idea!

After working up here (Jabiru) for the past few years, not a hope in hell could I live in this part of the world full time. As you said, for 8-10 months of the year, I spend the time sweating my ring out, and I don't even have a labour intensive job!

DaddyLarge
24-05-2011, 13:37
Yeah, me neither.

We did the typical thing - moved up here looking to secure our financial future and thought we'd spend a couple of years here. We got used to the cash and decided that we'd gut it out for seven years - that way we'd make it up until wifey's long service came due which would add another big lump sum to our savings. Come 2013, though, we're gone.

The heat sucks, though. I'd sweat sleeping in a meat locker, so when I'm out working during summer I'm drenched in a matter of an hour. When we leave here our goal is to buy acreage in Tasmania - anything to get away from the heat!

I can't imagine how people could live up here for life, but plenty love it. To each his own, I suppose.
