G has come up with a case of nappy rash again.... nothing is seeming to work. it isnt thrush....i havedecided to try some baby oil on it ( i give him a massage with it at night...) is this ok? will it help or hinder?
He doesnt mind nappy free time, althought at the moment that isnt a great option for any extended time....

No, I would stay away form it. Baby oil is petroleum based and full of nasty stuff you really do not want on skin, let alone a rash. Try calendula cream, or Brauer nappy rash cream. Light and easily absorbed by the skin, keep away from thick ointments and thick creams as they can exacerbate the rash.
If however, it is fungal, then you may need an antifungal cream from the pharmacy. Good luck, hope it goes away! (If you are a wet wipe user, I would stay away from them until the rash has gone too, also full of chemicals that may make it worse. )

thanks... :) ill have to get some!
Grab the cornflour out of the pantry and shake a fair bit over the rash. The only rash that the cornflour won't clear is a fungal rash, but it will keep it under control until you can get some anti-fungal cream.
My Ds had bad nappy rash during teething, and i mixed olive oil and curash powder together to make a paste and kept it in a jar when needed.it works great
I'm waiting to hear back from the company whether Brauer is mineral oil based. They don't list their vehicle on any of their ingredients lists, which is, in my experience, a strong indicator that something is mineral in origin, not vegetable.

Would like to hear what they use when you find out otherwise i will email them also but as for the other ingredients they are :
Brauers Nappy Rash Cream
Active Ingredients - Topical Cream
Each gram contains:
Calendula officinalis tincture equivalent to dry flowering herb top 100 mcg, Clematis recta tincture equivalent to dry flowering herb top 200 mcg, Hypericum perforatum tincture equivalent to dry whole plant 1 mg, Matricaria recutita tincture equivalent to dry whole plant 1 mg, Mezereum 6X, 2 mg.
Calendula officinalis - The most notable use of Calendula, however, is for its use externally on wounds, burns and abrasions - and especially for rejuvenating skin and helping the body to prevent and/or overcome abnormal skin growths. Scientific studies have shown that ointments made with calendula extract are particularly effective for healing wounds, including leg ulcers and other wounds that heal with difficulty.
Clematis recta - Upright Virgin's Bower helps to reduce itch & heal ulcers.
Hypericum perforatum - St Johns Wort used for neuralgia, anxiety due to sedative and pain-reducing effects.
Matricaria recutita - Externally, Chamomile has a strong anti-inflammatory action making it useful for eczema, hives and any irritated, inflamed skin problem.
Yes, these are the active ingredients, I'm interested in the vehicle. For example, Lucas Papaw, commonly hailed as "natural", is about 96% petroleum jelly. Because it is registered with the TGA, they're not compelled to label the ingredient they've deemed to be "non active".
something else that was recommended to me is lightly beating a little olive oil and water to use on rash... just a suggestion ;) hope you find a solution.

I second all of this and would avoid all petrochemical based products for your baby- grab some Daktozin from the pharmacy, it's great for the fungal kind of rash but also is just so thick and sticky that it doesn't rub off and stays on all night- a really good barrier.

I got a reply back from the company - very quick. It is based in aqueous cream, which is water and emulsifying ointment (a mixture of paraffin oils).
