PPL amount after tax

I received my first payment of PPL yesterday for $873.00. I assume this covered the last 3 weeks as I had requested it to start on 27/4/2011. That would only be $291/wk after taxes....is that right? I knew they would take out tax, but thats a lot more than I expected. Mine is paid by centrelink and the website says it would be taxed at 15% which would equal $485/wk I think. What's your PPL weekly amount? Is it paid on the same day every week?

Hi, I get $969 a ftnight after tax. It comes every 2nd wed. The amount u got doesn't sound right.

Thanks poppyseed. I just gave them a call...apparently the amount was only from the 27th April - 6th of May and the rest will come on the next payment. I thought the payment onthe 19th covered from the 27th of April until then...but I was confused.

Hi. Just wondering, does anyone know if the amount of tax on this varies depending on how much you earn prior to taking leave? i.e. if you're in top tax bracket when working, does that mean they tax you at highest rate on the PPL too? Or should it be same amount for everyone?

im fairly sure they tax everyone at 15%. however i did change mine to 20% online.

Why are you changing it to 20%? So you don't get hit with a tax bill, I'm guessing.
