My 8and a half month old loves his books..any ones books for that matter. His favourite at the moment is a book about colours. We start with Yellow, for cheese and duckling...then all the colours finishing with GREY: Parrot and rabbit. Close book, the end....wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!
What the?
We start again.....all's well..get to the rabbit, shut the book, wahhhhh!!!!!!!
You'd think I just stabbed him in the heart!
Does anybody else have this experience...and what do you do about it??

My DD has the same book. I have to read it to her about 8 times a day. She used to starting crying if she didn't want us to stop reading to her but seems to have grown out of this. She knows she gets the colours book and 1 Maisy book and then it is bedtime.

It gets worse as they get more mobile and can bring you the book they love again and again. I'm all for reading, and so glad DD loves it too, but at the 6th or 7th repetition of the same book in one afternoon (DD is fixated on ducks, my "quack" gets worn out!), I've found a solution. I hide the book for a week or so and start rotating through other ones :D She has her own bookshelf now.

hi
arent they funny little things .
our ds who is 14 months love the very hungry caterpillar oh my goodness he climbs out of bed and goes to get it brings it back and then wack mummy is awake and he very hungry caterpilar is delighting him all over again .
he also loves goodnight moon im so sick of reading them i m going to go and buy some second hand books for him today .
i bought the v.h.c for 20cents from the salvation army so i dont mind if he loves it to death :)
mem fox has a great book bout getting kids to read before school and reading the same thing over and over ids one of her hot tips and she says its great for kids to love books .so when im over reading the vhc for the 10th time i remember this might just help my ds as he gets older.
i jsut hope the next book he falls inlove with is light and short :p
and that his dad can be whacked awake everynow and then.
