Hi all, I'm currently 6 weeks pregnant with baby #2, and on day 4 of all day sickness *sob* lol. I had horrible all day sickness from weeks 7 to 14 with my son, and took maxolon, which helped take the edge off, but not much more.

I'm desperately searching for more options, and have heard from a lot of people that ginger is great, but after doing research, I've heard a lot of bad things about it too. Does anyone have any stories (good or bad) about ginger? Or do you have any other things that I can try to battle this dreaded curse? I'm in such a bad mood coz of it, and just want to lay on the couch all day, which isn't really practical when you have a 2 yr old:(.

Thanks in advance!

Gingernut biscuits kinda worked for me :) I tried ginger beer but threw it all up shortly after and once that happened I couldnt drink it again, I just associated it with vomitting
I found sipping on Gatorade helped with the nausea!
You can also get those sea sick bands from the chemist, which are apparently great, but I never tried them

:hugs: I hope your feeling better soon

Ginger Bears worked for me. I made sure I always had a bag handy, especially at work.

I'm currently on zofran (an anti nausea given to cancer patients) just to keep me out of hospital again but have started drinking sarsaparilla. It has ginger root in it so its got the calming effect and I hate ginger beer. After the tablet I was able to keep down a handful of cheese and crackers. More than I've been able to eat for the last 4 weeks put together. Been sick since week 3 (5dpo) and I'm currently week 8. Been overnight in hospital once. Completely bed ridden rest of the time, so I'm finding the drink and tablet quite effective (even if the tablet is $80 for 10) so its my recommendation.

Nothing helped me but zofran. My ob would only give me 4tablets which were 34.20 a packet. Its not on the PBS hence why its so expensive

I was on it from week 6 to 14. Ginger beer and ginger tablets and those stupid bands never worked for me

I'm in a very similar ms situation to you. 6 wks with first and ms for 4 days. No vomitting, just feeling really, really awful. First day at work since ms started and was really worried. I made sure I nibbled on something every hour, and had ginger cordial made up to sip on. I'm a teacher so need to be 'on' all day. I have also had crystallized ginger to chew on, and have been taking the Blackmore's Mowning Sickness pills. They have vitamin B6 and ginger in them and seem to help. With all these things, today was the best I've felt since Wednesday.

I took ginger tablets and they didn't help. But I did use the motion sickness bands if you pm me your address I can post them to you as they are $20 and I certainly won't need them again lol

They helped a lot but I did throw up every day for 18 weeks lol but I only ever chucked once when I had them on.

I didn't find that ginger worked for me... the only thing I ever tried which relieved it for a little while was getting a slushie from 7/11.

I did this because I had heard that carbonated drinks sometimes ease nausea and I don't like soft drink! :(

I only did it the once though, so it may have just been a fluke.

I take the Blackmore Morning Sickness tablets. I've found that if I take the strictly every 8 hours, they "help" a bit but don't completely get rid of the nausea.

I'm finding water and constantly grazing on food is helping and not eating anything thats pure sugar (lollies, etc) is helping too.

And hopefully, in 2 weeks when I hit the magic 12 weeks, it will disappear and I'll feel brilliant again... hopefully!!

I'm having hot lemon and honey drinks and that tends to soothe my nausea. Tea does too sometimes.

Zofran is my best, best friend.
OK, so it doesn't remove the nausea, but it stops me from throwing up, and helps me to function from day to day.
Ugh.
Just thinking about the dreaded morning sickness makes me shudder.

ginger tablets made me feel more sick. i didn't find any solution really except to ride it out. i was throwing up right up until 20 weeks. a few things i noticed though was that if i took my multivitamins before eating i would throw up. eating often helped also which was an adjustment because i used to skip meals before being pregnant due to being busy at work. having a good partner who got up in the middle of the night to make me toast helped too!

It is funny because I was reading over my pregnancy diary from 2 years ago and I have a notation at 9 weeks saying, "Sister gave me some Blackmore's Morning Sickness Tablets". Then I have a big arrow to the sentence saying, "Magic Stuff!!"

My dr gave me maxolon tabs to take, but they really didn't help that much. But I recall that the Blackmore's helped a lot! It didn't take the nausea away completely, but it made it a much more manageable symptom!

The other thing that helped me in my first pregnancy was mint! I would suck on XXXX mints at work and chugg-a-lug litres of spearmint flavoured milk drinks.

I just found Buderim Ginger cordial at the supermarket the other day and it's great! It has real ginger in it but it's quite sweet and I make it up with soda water.
I got so sick of all the various ginger things I tried last pregnancy I wasn't sure I would be able to stomach it this time around but so far it's quite good. Like a pp I've also discovered minty things work this time too!:)

I found that Blackmores Morning Sickness tablets really helped me too. They're full of ginger and vitamin B6. I also found ginger tea and crystalised ginger took the edge off my morning sickness.

Tried Ginger tea... ouch burned heaps and brought it up :(. Does anyone else have pain in their side when they vomit? just wondering if its anything to worry about? It always goes away afterwards.
