I noticed in another modelling post it touched on the money side of things.

Wondering what you do when you DS or DD earns money through these agencies. Do you put the whole amount in their own account. Do you take out your expenses for petrol and getting them there, considering it could be a long drive, time off work etc. Or do you take a percentage.

Wondering what your thoughts are.

My DH and I disagree on what should happen. I stongly disagree  but haven't said much yet as DS hasn't earnt anything so it is probably jumping the gun.

Hi,
I believe that if you put them out there to get some work that is 'our' choice and so we should expect to spend the time and money on taking them to the jobs, therefore they should get all the money.
My daughters money is in her own bank account until she is 18. I actually never thought or would consider taking a cut of it!
Personal choice i suppose! :)

My 8 year old daughter has only had one job, where she was in a commercial last year for all of about two seconds! It was a 2 hour shoot and she was paid $250.

She got to spend $30 on whatever she liked, plus she bought a present for her brother and sister (as they were put out by being babysat or picked up from school on the day of the shoot). The rest of the money gets put away. But I think its fair to let them have some money at the time, seeing as they do earn it. She thinks $30 is a fortune so was stoked to think that she earned this much (we haven't told her how much jobs relly earn because we don't want it to be about the money)

We'll save some for when she's older, but we'll also use what she earns to pay for any other activities that they want to do- such as horseriding, which is expensive when you have two kids wanting to do it every week ($70 a week for the two)- so extra things like this that benefit the kids will come out of that money.

We did keep about $50 for us, as the job had come up on a low payweek and we'd used our last bit of fuel to take her to the audition and the job, then didn't have much fuel money for the rest of the week, so we recouped there. But the rest is hers- she earns it so she gets it- some now, some later.
