How old were your children when they could sing the alphabet song and recognise all of the letters.

I don't have any kids yet (well not quite lol)
But my niece niece knew her colours at 17 months! She would also point to objects and say what they were.
She was a very intelligent little girl and at nearly 6 years old she still is very smart and advanced.
Umm my kids knew the alphabet(singing it) at around 2. And Jayden has learnt to recognise letters on his own at 3 1/2.

Being a teacher, I know that most kids come to school not being able to match letters to their names. They may know a few. Some children will recognise everyday words before then eg. their name, mummy, daddy etc but some don't know that either. I guess it depends on how much exposure they have before then. I guess an important thing to teach is not only the names of the letters but the sounds they make, cause that's how kids learn to read, spell and write.

2.5 years. Though she's not so good on b, d, p, and q and is not 100% on capital letters.

DSS is 4y10m and has known the alphabet for quite a long time now, he can read all the letters and is beginning to read simple sentences with the tiniest prompting.
DS is 3y10m he knows his alphabet and can recognise all the letters, he can read his name and alex's name so far, hes still learning how to actually sound out the letters tho, that confuses him a bit :)
