Pepti junior help

My daughter who is 6 mths old has finally been and seen a pediatrician yesterday who prescribed her pepti junior as he seems to think she has an intolerance to sum of the proteins found in regular formulas, but can not seem to get her to take it, she absolutely hates the taste and screams at me when I offer it

hi, i just noticed your post. my daughter started on pepti jnr at 8 months, I was still breastfeeding so was trying to introduce it gradully. she hated it so much, only ever had 1-2 sips for the first month at least.

you can only keep trying to get her used to the taste, eventually they will - mine would have a whole cup by about age 1.

you can also cook with it, which might help getting used to the taste. eg add a spoon/scoop of powder to your purees (don't freeze it, you add it just before feeding). you can also make custard using either cornflour or rice cereal, made up formula and a little sugar if you want to, cook on stove the way you would with normal custard (be careful not to let it boil as the formula can turn a bit rancid). I think I rang the manufacturer and got a little cook book sent to me? (it was a few years ago now).

DD1 was on Neocate for a while (from 11-19 months), and it has a foul taste too. Her paed said to add a few drops of vanilla extract while she gets used to it, and then slowly add less and less, until she was having it plain.

That worked very well.

hi there - we used vanilla extract for the first week or so. It took a couple of feeds for him to take more than a few sips but we got there in the end and after the first week we were able to stop adding vanilla extract

It took me 3 months to get ds to take it.... Keep persisting :)
