View Full Version : I love you!!
Only when I am in trouble :banghead:
I am still waiting for the day when my DS1 will turn around and say "I love you mum". Every night before he goes to bed I tell him "mummy loves you very much", DH and I constantly say "love you" to each other!! But he still hasn't said it to me...until about 1/2 ago when I saw him bouncing on a lounge room chair - I told quiet sternly to go to his room and ran in crying, the next thing I hear with the tears still going "Love you mummy - over and over again" :( Cute, but not exactly what I had in mine!! One day he will say it and not because he is in trouble - will he
Of course he will!!
My DD (15m) is learning Auslan sign language, and we taught her to sign i love you about 3 weeks ago, and she's been signing it ever since! So cute and makes you feel so good, especially when she just does it herself, out of the blue.
I tell you this because it seems to me they know the phrase and wish they could say it much earlier than they actually can speak it.
Keep trying, repetition and encouragement are the best learning tools. And rest assured, he LOVES YOU!! More than anybody probably. I bet he won't take long now - he obviously can say it. He'll just come out with it some day soon, you'll see :)
Thanks suze :hugs: I know he will say it one day, he already blows me kisses just because, so I suppose in his own way he already as said "I love you". I do love the sign language idea.

My 9yr old still hasn't said it. :( He will say "love you" in a not very enthusiastic way, but only after we say it first. Still waiting for him to just come out and say it first. Hopefully before he moves out of home.

Oh Karen I know this one well!
While my DS is gorgeous and does tell us he loves us quite often, none so frequently as when he's getting roused on!
It's a distraction tactic of his - he figures if he gets us all mushy we'll forget what he was getting in trouble for. Hate to say it kiddo, it doesn't work! LOL
Oh angel_kisses - I suppose boys are boys aren't they, its too girly to say I love you :D
M2J to naughty
MrsPotts its funny the things they think will get them out of trouble, never does  I had to be so tough and not go in there and give him a big hug :shame:

Yeah, DD and DS2 say it all the time, so hopefully it will rub off on him.
He will say it - both of mine do, and spontaneously too!
They never say it when they are in trouble, but Miss 4 will often ask if I still love her when she is in trouble....
Keep saying it and saying it and saying it - eventually he will say it back!

lol he will say it properly soon enough! My DS is 3y10m and says it to me all the time and always in the sweetest context. At nighttime when I put him to bed, or he will come to me during the day andt ell me 'mummy ive got a secret... i love you' or 'mummy i love you TWENTY' (trying to say how much he loves me... when he first was learning his numbers he would say I love you TWO.. then as he learnt to count more the number increased lmao)
AaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawW! Charmzy - how sweeeeet!
Thats is adorable charmzy :D
Mine went through a stage about 6 months ago where he would say "I love you" 20+ times a day - it was VERY cute, but got a little tiring at times.
We would be in a supermarket and he would call out at the top of his voice "Mummy"
I'd say "yes?"
He would say in an even louder voice "I LOVE YOU"
And if Mummy didn't reply with "I love you too" he would continue to shout "I love you" over and over . . .louder and louder until I did.
He still says it often, mainly at night when tired, but still likes to pop the odd one in when I am in the middle of talking to a tradesperson/shop assistant/etc. Too cute.
Thats so adorable...but the thing most likely my DS will be yelling out will be "Mummy Passed Wind!!!" Not looking forward to that day
