View Full Version : Would you buy brown?
Hi y'all  Just wondering if you think that it would be ok to buy DD brown summer sandals, I really want some Pink Clarks (Izzy) but can't find anyone who stocks them here in Adelaide & have found some cute brown Clarks sandals in a local store but wonder if its too boyish a colour  I thought that I would have to buy 2 pairs of summer sandals in order to cover all the bases colour wise but if I buy brown she could probably wear them with all colours ie, red, pink, navy, yellow all of them really, what do you think?
Also is $100 too much for a pair of leather sandals for a 18 month old? Whats the most you've ever paid for clothes or shoes for your littlie?

For me I would spend that much on a pair of shoes, but not for my bub.....they are still growing and they will be out of them before to long...
As for the colour....I think brown would be fine for a girl....are they girls sandals (like look girly), or do they look uni sex??? Brown is a universal colour, and as you said can be worn with most things.........
Depends on the brown!! My school sandals where brown & ugly but I have not seen any brown summer sandals this season.
I got DD a white pair of Clarks (cuddle) they pretty much go with everything.
I always grab DD a good leather pair of shoes every season & I always wait till Myer has a 25% shoe sale, I would never spend $100 on a shoe for her they just grow so fast.

I think brown is fine...so long as they're not a 'boyish' style? I've bought DD1 plenty of brown ones (mostly second hand) and they do go with everything.
I personally wouldn't spend $100 on a pair of kids shoes. They can spend that much on 'em when they can pay for 'em themselves!! Come to think of it, i've only spent that much on my own shoes once, and that was for a good pair of riding boots.

i wouldn't pay that much for a pair but id say brown is fine for girls
Thanks for the responses  I want to get DD a good quality pair of shoes, you know leather so they breath, supportive with adjustable straps for her narrow feet & well made. I don't want to put her into a pair of ill fitting shoes & cause any damage to her little feet which are still growing but so far all the shoes that fit the above criteria, have been from specialty shoe stores & the shoes seem to range in price from $65-$135  I would like to buy her a pair of Clarks Izzy but as I can't find anyone who stocks them, I have had to come up with something else  I found a pair of lovely caramel/stone/toffee colour leather sandals at a shoe shop here in Adelaide & the price is $100:o I keep thinking that if I buy them than at least they will go with everything & I wont need to buy another pair lol.
I'm crazy for even thinking about it aren't I?

When we lived in Adelaide I got the kids shoes from Shoex on Goodwood Rd. They stock Clarks mostly and are very good at fitting feet. Very attentive but their personal style is a bit daggy. They tend to show you the ugly shoes first, so look around on the shelves first and ask for what you want.
Betts Kids also has some Clarks and have accreidated fitters.
You have probably already tried them if you have tried speciality shops in Adelaide but there is Ollie Ashendon in North Adelaide and Wards Shoes on the Parade Norwood.
I am like you I buy one good pair a season and maybe a cheap pair from Kmart/Target. My DP always had ill fitting shoes and has funny looking toes now, so he is really particular about it!
The alternative is to go to Myer/David Jones when they have 25% off.
I probably wouldn't buy brown shoes for a girl as there are so many lovely colours available. I am saying that because I have boys and there are very few varieties for them

I actually work for Betts Kids & they don't have the Clarks Sandals that I really wanted, so I've been looking elsewhere lol :o I think this is also why I want a pair of good quality shoes that fit well (boss tells me all the horror stories about poorly fitted shoes), this will be her first pair of sandals & I want to make it a good pair. I'll try Shoex & Wards shoes but just out of interest do they sell shoes for little ones
I've been to Oliie Ashendon & that is where I found the cute toffee coloured sandals that I might end up buying.
Thanks for all the help.

Can't be postive that Wards have shoes for tiny ones. But I have bought my DS's first shoes from Shoex and they were the Clarks premium range, the leather upper and inner ones. I think they were a size 5. Hope that helps anyway.
Ollie Ashendon have the best range though. I paid about $70 for the Clarks premium ones both at Shoex and have bought some from Ollie's too at that price.
Shame you can't get them from where you work! Good luck with your search ;)
Thanks Sarah81, I'll definately be checking out those stores, it's funny isn't it I work in a kids shoe store & can't find shoes I like for my own child lol :D
My DH says its typical, a women never wants what she's got (or at least has easy access to) lol
