Hi everyone
My DS (10 months) has had runny pooey nappies for the past 3 days (a lot more than usual). These really smell and seem quite acidic (sorry if TMI) - his little bum has horrible nappy rash even though I'm changing him every hour or so and swathing him in cream! And he never gets nappy rash!

Now, I originally thought it was a gastro bug thing, but he has otherwise seemed happy and is drinking normally although preferring a simpler diet with his solids.

Then yesterday I noticed he had more teeth coming through and I wondered whether it was related??

Can anyone tell me if they have experienced this? I took him to my GP yesterday and he said it could even be lactose intolerance (as DS is now bottle fed) but I am sure it's the teething!!

Thanks

some child specialists say teething has no effect on nappies etc but i know loads of babies who have had exactly this happen then cut a tooth the next day - including ozzy. if it's any consolation it usually clears up really really quickly and it won't necessarily happen for all the teeth yet to come. hugs for your bub, it must be horrid for him

Both mine do this - much as you described - when they are cutting teeth. I have read the teething doesn't cause nappy rash etc but I honestly can't say that is my experience... Hope it resolves quickly!

I use a thick layer of paw paw ointment on their poor little bottoms while they are teething...

Disgusting isnt it !!!!
My CHN said with a grin when i took Boof down one day that teething doesnt cause it & we both burst out laughing because isnt it funny nearly every mother complains of it !!!!
I would use a liner in my cloth nappies that i could throw out during this period because i was wrecking my nappies & then layering his bum in Brauers Nappy Rash Cream which is a natural product & then either cornflour or the Curash powder.
This did the trick for us & i would also steer clear of store nappy wipes as they have alcohol which hurts their sore bum even more. Cut up some chux wipes & use water with some chammomile tea in it !

Thanks guys
The chamomile tea and the paw paw cream seemed to have worked a treat. We are not getting so many of the yukky nappies now pheww.. they really do smell!
We'll see what transpires as more of the teeth are coming down!

Totally agree with the paw paw ointment!!! Went to doctor when my bub had really bad nappy rash and he suggested it, told me he wasn't going to prescribe anything as they just do not work like the paw paw ointment. Can buy it in any chemists.
