Hey guys,
I have a wedding to go to in a few weeks and would love to have my boobs actually sit up where they are supposed to  !!
I am still doing 2-3 breastfeeds a day so Im obviously still in nursing bras.
Is it going to cause any damage to wear an underwire bra for half a day? Or do you think it would be just too uncomfortable?
Any suggestions would be appreciated!!
Cheers,
Becca :D

Hi Becca,
All I guess I can say is what I've previously said on this subject before and that is a good friend of mine works in the intimate apparel section of a large department store and will not recommend underwire bras to breastfeeding or pregnant women simply because the pressure they place on the breasts can lead to mastitis.
It's a bit of a tough one though, because when I was first breastfeeding, I would get lumps and mastitis at the drop of the hat - simply from lying on one side when sleeping, I'm sure! Now things have settled down for me too, and I am not feeding as much as the early days, it feels like the "old girls" aren't as eye-poppingly full as before, but I'm not sure I'd be ready to give an underwire bra a go.
My suggestion would be to get a padded t-shirt maternity bra - I have a great one I bought from BigW of all places - it really gives me a boost when I wear it.
Alternatively, you could perhaps trial an underwire bra, but first have it fitted professionally because your size may be a lot different now, and while you're at it, ask the advice of the fitters.
Maybe you could use "Hollywood tape" in conjunction with your maternity bra? You could sure have fun practising getting it on!!!!LOL!!!

Thanks Nicole,
I'll have a think about it. Its not worth causing problems over, I just would like to have my perky boobs back!! LOL!! ;)
I have until yesterday been doing 2 breastfeeds a day, I have occasionally worn my underwire bras to work, because they looked better under the shirt. I have never had a problem with mastitis, lumps, etc. But I might have just been lucky???
Probably best to ask professional advice?

Thanks Ondine!
Hi Briannabear,
I too have been doing a bit of research on this topic and have found that there is no evidence to support problems arising from wearing underwire bras. It simply comes down to what you are more comfortable in, and as you are only down to a couple of feeds a day, there should be no reason why you might choose underwire more often.
As mentioned, mastitis and lumps while breastfeeding can occur for many different reasons. Just make sure that your bra is firm fitting though, and isn't going to incorrectly sit across your breast rather than under it as it should.
