Hi everyone,
I want to start by thanking you all. I have gained so much from all of your stories and information.
Both my hubby and I were married before and have children from those marriages. I have 3 boys and hubby has 1 of each.
Approx. 6 years ago I had a tubal ligation using the filshie clips.
Just last week we found out that I have ovarian cysts on both sides. 1 cyst has 11 follicles inside it and the other has a cyst that is 3.5 x 3.2cm
My gyno put me on medication in the attempt to shrink the cysts. But we also found out that 1 of the clips from the t.l. has cut right through the tube and is now sitting on my bowel. My gyno says this is of no concern.
We now know that a reversal will not work and ivf is our only chance now. I have done alot of research on the internet about it all but am finding it all a little confusing now. Especially about costs and whether to go public or private. Hubby and I don't have private health cover so we will be doing this all ourselves with the medicare rebate. Any advise or info at all would be greatly appreciated........
Many many thanks to you all,
Desperate to have a baby
Hi Framine
Were are you located? Price etc varies greatly from clinic to clinic and state to state. I have just got a BFP from my 4th IVF attempt at a Brisbane Clinic - we dont have private health. We pay $6000 up front to the clinic, plus approx $800 to the Dr, $400 to the anthesistist (sp), $1507 to the hospital plus extras like hatching, glue, ICSI - we get approx $5000 back from Medicare per cycyle (if you are over the safety net). Not sure of exact refund but I will go through my paperwork and try and find out from last cycle.
We go privately and I am of the understanding that if you go through the public system there is a lot of waiting and you dont necessarily get in to start a cycle when you need to - you wait your turn. This is what i have heard from other people not from personal experience.
Good luck with your decision.

HI framaine.
Welcome to Bub hub .
Dh and I haven't got private insurance as well . We live in Melbourne and the cost for us , out of pocket , was around 2500 $ for a stimulation cycle .
I'm wishing you all the best for your IVF cycle and feel free to ask any questions :fingerscrossed: . There are lots of Ladies in your situation that can help you .
Take care .

Hi Beatrice,
Thank you so much for your response. Tonight hubby and I went to our g.p. here in south west sydney.
He gave us the referral but seems to think that maybe we should look more into what the go is with my tubes. (Remember 1 of my tubes is cut from the clip after a tubal ligation).
Anyway, I'm off to see my gyno on thursday and I will talk about it wth him aswell.
I'm pretty nervous about it all now for some strange reason. I'm scared that I will be told that it won't work or because of my cysts that I will have complications, enough to put my health at risk too...
Am I being silly thinking and feeling this way???? Is it normal????
Oh, by the way, a very big Congrats, :yelclap: :smiliedance: You must be over the moon and beyond. If you want to tell me more able your experiences I would love to read them, and from anyone else too. I can't tell you all just how much I am ngaining from this site.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU........

framaine :
Thank you for your sweet words ...
It is normal to feel scared and worried as you go through the unknown . Try to remain positive even if IVF can be a long and difficult road sometimes , but there are lots of people like me who haven't the choice and that's why we hang on to it ...
It's great that you had your first appt today , it's a big step .
If you want to have advices from other Ladies , you can also post in the thread : "First IVF Cycle in a Few Days Part 3 " . You will be very welcome ...
Good luck with your appt Thursday ....:fingerscrossed: :fingerscrossed:
Take care .
