I have a breeze baby ring sling, and its kinda never felt right, then i thought i was getting the hang of it, then bub fell out the bottom! Luckily she only dropped a few cm and i caught her, but what a fright for both of us! I think maybe it was too tight? Any tips?

I also have an ergo sport, but no insert- i had one with ds but i always felt like he was going to suffocate in it! How old do they have to be for front carry?

I'd really love to keep trying, but i don't really feel too safe with the sling and at 10 weeks she is too small for the ergo! Should i try the sling again? Buy the insert? Or buy something else?

We have the original ergo for DD and stopped using the NB insert last week when she was 8 weeks old. We're both much more comfy without it so at 10 weeks I think your DD would be top small? We still have her in that froggy position though just without the insert.

I used the insert up until a few weeks ago (DD was 12 weeks old - but she is a very tall and hefty girl so she was sitting "right" in the Ergo without it). I know the insert is good for their spine and neck so I used it up until I was confident that she was able to support her head well. I think the insert was pretty good actually - I was initially hesitant (it did look really big and bulky!) but I would recommend it.

Thanks guys, i'll give the ergo a go! She is only just over 5kg now (at a guess) so i don't know how her legs will go. Cocktail- with froggy do you just tuck their knees up inside?

I probably just suck at putting on the sling and the ergo, oh well!

Found the peanut shell good for ages. It's pretty simple, just a pouch/ pocket to slip them into. But you'd have to buy a new sling of course.
Think there are some on ebay atm for buy it now about $35. Bargain.

Ring slings are quite a knack to get right. I used one everyday all day for four months. It took a while but I got the hang of it and then it became second nature and was very comfortable until about that 8kg mark.

There are two rails, the top and bottom of the fabric and you control the tightness of each rail using the tail. The key is getting the fabric strung through the rings properly at the start. The rings should end in a corsarge / brooch position on your body.

Have a look on YouTube for videos as that's what helped me get it right. Ring slings are great for quick trips now and I still use my breeze baby at the beach!

The ergo can be used without an insert from about the 4 month mark, it's mainly that when they are small they sit at the bottom of the carrier where it's the widest. The heart to heart insert lifts them up and keeps them in a more compact sitting position. Do you have that one? The key to the feet is that they should be next to the cushion and not in it (as in not pushing into your tummy).

I dont have either of those. I have a bubba moe sling and a close baby carrier. DS is 8 weeks and Ive been using both. At the begining I was so uncomfortable and had no idea where I was going wrong.

Then I watched heaps of videos on youtube and now its so easy!

Yeah we just tuck her knees up and they kinda hug our body, like her knees are apart if that makes sense?

She's just under 6kgs though but can hold her head very well.

We found using the ergo heaps easier without the insert and it's much easier to get her in without it as well.

Hope you can get comfy in it :)
