antiphospholipid syndrome anyone?

Hi ladies,

I am feeling quite sad and despondent today, as I have just been diagnosed with antiphospholipid syndrome...

I honestly cant believe it, i thought i had trouble falling pregnant, and was unexplained , and now i find even if i get pregnant i will have trouble keeping it..

i have had two miscarriages, 1 from a clomid pregnancy and 1 from a fresh ivf cycle, i am about to have a FET, and the FS has advised met to go on clexane...from day of transfer...

i am desperately seeking some words of comfort, and hope, have any of you lucky pregnant ladies had this diagnosis?

if so, what treatment were you on? how did you get the diagnosis? how many miscarriages did you have before?

Just wanted to send you some hugs :hugs: I've never heard of this syndrome before and hope that someone with experience can help you.

I just googled it and seems it is a blood clotting disorder. Clexane will help with stopping the blood clots from happening so it seems your FS knows his/her stuff. Not sure but can you ask about usefulness of also going on low dose asprin?

I don't have your syndrome but i do have Factor 5 ( a clotting disorder) and i to had a miscarriage at 6weeks on my 4th cycle. After another 2 cycles and both BFN i had some tests done and was put on Clexane for cycle number 7 and 8.....and finally after 4 years of trying for our second baby we were blessed with a beautiful baby boy. I had to start my injections straight after my ET and was on it until i was 12 weeks pregnant.

I was also recently diagnosed with Antiphospholipid Syndrome after giving birth to a very premature little princess, Ollie, on 30 April 2011. Despite her fight for over two hours, Ollie didnt make it as she was only 23 weeks and 5 days.

It has been a hard road since but the obsterician and haemotologist at the Royal Womens Hospital in Melbourne have reassured me that it is possible to have a baby even with the mother having APS, you just need to find the right medical support in your local city.

Although I haven't had any previous pregnancies and miscarriages, I've been assured that it is possible with the right program for you which will include possibly daily injections of clexane and aspirin.

I have APS as well. I don't have kids yet but currently planning to have children soon. I will be put on clexane throughout my pregnancy as i'm considered highrisk. Was just wondering if anyone was successful using clexane and also if they had to take time off work during their pregnancy.

I have a friend with Antiphospholipid syndrome who had several miscarriages (3 ), including twins. Once diagnosed though and using clexane she went on to have 3 healthy children and no further miscarriages.

new to this site, so unsure if i'm doing this right. I'm relieved to know that by using clexane she was successful in having children. Would like to know if your friend had to take time off work. Are you on clexane at present?

No she didn't need any time off work with the antiphospholipid syndrome onc eon clexane she was fine.

Yes, I am on clexane this pregnancy for another clotting problem - prothrombin gene mutation.
