I got a brand new one off Ebay. It's made by Kultoys (I think...never heard of them before) and has a reversible handle.

Found a link, it's the top one.

I have a pram that I bought for our DS when he was a baby from Target, we got the matching Port-a-cot and the bassinette as well. It is the Winnie the Pooh theme. We will use the pram for this one too, as we didn't really use that pram for DS all that much. So that will save us alot of money.

You should see the monsterous prams we have over here... you practically need to drive a truck to store them...

OH how I miss my Bertini Shuttle, a brilliant pram... only prob was that it's not practical for babies in that they face away from you... I prefer the bub to face me when they are really small!

Good luck finding a good one, the options are limitless out there now!

I ahve posted this already but thought you may want to have a look. bertini is releasing in october their new range which you can design your self. you can choose the frame/seat/fabric etc and one of the frames is the shuttle base and the seat is reversible:thumbsup:

HI
I have a great pram, the Beema, with bassinet, its a 3 wheeler, and I got it for a bargain, it is new (only the bassinet was used for a baby bed for a couple of months, the pram is new, and it was only $150 all up! This lady had another pram I wanted, and we ended up as friends from me asking so many questions about the other pram, she is only down the road, anyway, I missed out on the other pram (yep, me, queen of snipers was sniped....lol) and she said she had this one, she wanted $200 but I talked her down..!
I will upload some photos or you can go to the babyco site, btw, the beema q, same model, only its aluminium, not steel (I like the strength of steel, no matter who tells me how strong aluminium is, Ive had it before, and dont like it..) but the q has lovely material. anyway, the q made it to choice magazines best 3 wheeler! ATM, if you buy any beema pram style, you get the bassnet half price!
Im not selling it, but I do love it, and Im not really a 3 wheeler lover, I love Emmalunga prams, the newies with the black wheels and adjustable handles, but cant justify spending that sort of money on what will probably be my last pram.

Ooh, Jeanette, that is a noice pram, lovely and bright, well done, and ebay, my problem is with ebay, we have nothing for sale in adelaide, and the post is so excessive when you go interstate, especially down here, or to perth.

Your baby is going to get one cumfy ride!

We have nothing for sale where I am either, it's all over 150km away. This one was about 2.5hrs drive away from me, but my sister lives out that way so I was going to have her pick it up for me. But the people selling it said that they had to come this way for work, so they dropped it off for me.

It's REALLY hard to steer when you have the baby facing you, but I'm sure I will work it out one day, lol.

We haven't organised a pram yet - it and the bassinett are about the only 2 things we don't have. We'll probably buy a new one, I'd like one that could hold Squirt from a small infant to a small child. DF and I are planning on 2+ extra kids as well so I want something that will last.

Any reccommendations?

I have a 3-wheel Beema and I love it. Huge basket underneath which also fits small toddler LOL We bought it before DD was born, and she's 3 now and its still going really well.

So I will use that again for this bub. I have a sling for short trips to the shops though. And when bubs is older I have one of those $30 strollers from BigW that are brilliant to just chuck in the car.

I already have a pram, mum and dad bought for me when I was preg with Angel Ethan. It's a four wheel but it is really good with a big basket in the bottom of it. It can also hold a capsule if we decide to get that instead of a car seat. So thats good as well. i don't have to disturb bubba!!

It looks really comfy actually

the only problem with the beema is that it doesn't have the option of a toddler seat attachment.

The Babylove tri active 3 wheeler joggerhas that option, so great if having more than one child! plus it suits newborn till i think 18kg and the toddler seat sits up to 18 or 20kg. plus it has a wide framed back wheels to prevent tip over and create stability moreso when using toddler seat.

also can get bassinette attachment! i have bought this pram and the attachments myself!

http://www.babylove.com.au/Productdetail.asp?RecordTotal=8&RecordID=2&categoryid=1&subcategoryid=3&productid=40

Don't buy it from babyco though as they charge a fortune for it to try and convince you to buy beema. Bby bunting (in Victoria) has it cheaper, not sure what is near you.

hope this helps :D

Love the Bertini Cel:thumbsup:

I have been looking in all the shops at prams, but I haven't found anything I like. They all come in Black or Black (not for me).

I think I'll look into that bertini x4 light in a nice colour. Knowing my luck now I've seen something I like it will cost a furtune..............

We are waiting until after our 12 week scan before we start shopping. Have been looking at a few options though on the net. We want something that has a toddler seat option, is easy to fly with interstate and has a reversible handle. I like the steelcraft transition and the bertini so far.

19-09-2006, 02:46 PM
Yep that was the problem with the Beema I found too, but as it turned out we didn't need to worry about it ;)
But have you seen the seat inserts for the baskets? They're generic i think, and will fit in most large baskets. I've seen quite a few people with one kid up the top and one down the bottom (done it myself and the kids thought it was hilarious!)

But yep, if you have or are planning on having kids close together, get a pram with a toddler seat attachment. For older kids there are the skateboard things that attach to the back (or you can just make 'em walk :p )

I used to have a lovely IGC Scandinavian pram that had a toddler seat. The pram ended up falling apart though by the time Matthew was born (paid $400 for it almost 10yrs ago, you'd think it would last longer than 5yrs and 2 kids). I still have the toddler seat for it though, it's just totally useless without a pram to go on, lol.

We will be using our pram we already have.

But I plan on having my newborn in my ring sling and push DD in the pram.

We will get our next pram from the US. They have unbelievable travel systems with capsules that go straight from the car to the pram. With Harriet I could move her from the pram to the car into the house without her ever waking up. And she stayed in the capsule until she was 7mths old - so we didn't have to buy a carseat until then. There are some travel systems here in Australia but they are soooo expensive compared to overseas and they don't come in twin prams - which is what we are going to need with the new baby. So another Graco travel system for us.

i dont think graco travel systems meet aussie safety standards. the link i posted earlier(sorry to hijack girls) bertini is bringing a travel system out in mid october(the one they have ATM is only for new zealand) and fisher price has just released one through target thats on sale ATM i think:thumbsup: the new safe and sound and fisher price can take bubs til 12 kilos(12 months-ish) too(as do all newer convertible car seats-its now recommended) babylove make a capsule to fit the sit n stand too www.babylove.com.au look in travel system section:D

Jodiee
19-09-2006, 05:51 PM
Yep, Cel is right, I want/ed a graco rock n ride, capsule that is also a rocker, that is also a chair, which is ideal, but the only capsules you can use in australia, are babylove, fisher price new one, unity, s'n sound and the soon to be bertini, you arent allowed to use any capsule without a anchor point, and america/ uk ones dont, unfortunately.

I have no probs with the beema, this is the last baby, so dont need a toddler seat.

Jeanette, I know what you mean about pushing with the baby in the facing yuo direction, I had a Peg perago venezia in the burberry (loved the look, not the pram. for Charleigh and it was hard to get used to, but you just have to turn in the opposite direction to what you want to go....lol....

I sold the peg on ebay last year, before we decided to have this baby, and got over half of what we paid for it, which I was rapt about! Mind you, it was like brand new when we sold it, so she really did get a bargain.

I like the new bertini's, and looked at the shuttle for Charleigh, I love the look of them, and at that time, it was cheaper than the peg, but like most people I know, I went for trend/prestige/most expensive instead of looking at practicality, which is mainly why the peg wasnt used much, it just wasnt me, when I would have loved the shuttle to death.

Borrow a friends baby/toddler if you can, that way you get an idea of how heavy they are when loaded. Some are light to push, but put a child in them and they are hard to lift up and down curbs etc.

with maikyra i bought a peg perego because i liked the bar being able to be moved so i could see her; also the zip up cover. Its **** once they get older than 6 months old though.

I absolutely adore my Mountain Buggy Storm, its quite light and goes everywhere! My dad just bought me a stroller which is great but it doesnt recline so doesnt really work.

Has anyone got suggestions for a pram for two - my daughter will be three when the baby is borm

Whilst the Graco travel system doesn't have ADS ruling, it does come with an anchor point plus has the facility to put the seatbelt through the back as well - in fact exactly the same as our Babylove carseat so we felt more then secure about bringing one over from the US. I just love the ease of use but refuse to spend $600 on the same system here when they cost less then $300 from overseas. A lot of my friends have Beemas - they seem really popular. Peg Perego's are nice but again very pricey - my best friend is an avid Choice magazine follower and when they recommended it she bought one. But she has never been 100% happy with it. Another friend bought a BugABoo - but again very pricey at almost $1000. Prams are so personal - everyone likes different things.

Can i just suggest something....

I have a four wheeled pram that fits a capsule in it and the capsule I am hiring from the Ambulance service for $50 for 6months (they give it to you longer if you have a samller bubba no charge).

It fits in the pram snug and doesn't move around, that way you don't have to wake bub up at all. I don't know about other ambulance services but I know that the QLD one does a very good job with capsules.

Just a suggestion, I don't want to spend too much money because it won't be in it that long and by the time I have another one I can get something new then cause the trends would have changed.

I would check first to see if they are allowed here, as I know the european ones dont have the safety strap that goes to the anchor point in the car, and I know you are not allowed to use them unless they have that.

Cel, sorry not much help for you. I am lucky to have a relative in LA, so I order things and he imports things back to Australia so he puts it into the container for me. With my last one I sent my husband over to get it - he brought it back as carryon luggage. Qantas asked him where the baby was and he replied "With it's mother" I was 8mths pregnant at the time and back at home!! I agree with everyone who said to check whether they are safe. I know with my Graco they have what is called a "Latch" system which clicks into the bolt as well as the space where the safety belt goes through for double the safety.

There are some places that will ship overseas but you would have to weigh up the costs.

I know alot of people will slap me, cause it is the IN PRAM at the moment, but seriously, this pram is just as expensive AS A CAR!!!!!!! It says that it will take up to a fair weight, but if you look, the seat is joined to the frame with a pin, just imagine how long it will last in usual school, shopping, walking use. (also, it didnt do well with choice magazine!!)
another thing, what happens when it goes out of fashion as it will, what a total waste of money, they are already selling for as low as $800 on ebay, just goes to show!

Hi Jo,

I was doing abit of reserch last night into a few prams and what not. And I was having a look on their various websites. I liked the look of the Beema, but I just couldn't handle the price tag of them, and I couldn't find a way to honestly justify spending that amount of money. So I also did a search for the Bertini Shuttle series, which I tend to like very much! They even have sporty models that look like they have MAGS! *L* hahah.. But I am in contact with someone on ebay and arranging a Bertini Shuttle at the moment, and I feel it will do the job for me. I can also get the toddler seat and use it for my son as well. Even though I already have 3 other prams! I have a Target Winnie The Pooh pram still in good condition that I will sell on ebay shortly, as well as have a basic 3 wheel jogger pram my son is now still using, and I just have a normal skinny stroller for the short trips here and there. Unfortunately I can't use the skinny stroller anymore, my son is nearly 3 but weighs around 16kgs, and the poor stroller doesn't seem to handle his weight very well!

So yes... Sonja... I am a pram addict too! *L* :D

Hi Becs, I hadn't even given much thought as to how much I would be selling it for, but there is no use for an extra pram if it isnt going to be used. I will Take some pics of the pram as soon as I can, I want to find all the accessories and stuff that it comes with as well, so that you can see. Quinny's are extremely expensive, is it one of the newer/like bugaboo types? You should ebay it, youll get hundreds if it is like the bugaboo.
I dont know if quinny do cheaper models, so I may be totally wrong, does it have a name ie: buzz, freestyle, zapp, speedi etc on it?

and Jen, yep, ebay is definately the way to go for a pram, I think. I saw, and missed out on a little while ago, an Emmalunga sport EC, I was sniped at the last second, and it went for $102, amazing cause they are like $800 new, and so sporty, and so gorgeous. Get the Bertini, they are such a sturdy, cute, trendy pram....lol....

Jo, I was more thinking about the ease of movement of the Bertini as well as being able to off road if needed, we live just down from the bush here and take our Boxer, Kira-Lea for a walk most days. Call me totally naive, but since visitng this forum and doing abit of research, I didn't think that there were so many different prams with different features as well! It is unbelievable! I have to say I am abit overwhelmed, and I actually feel abit stupid about my thinking that a "pram is a pram". *L* Well actually it is, I guess it just depends on what you want and what you are willing to spend. I can't get my head around paying an exorbitant amount for a pram, whether that's a pram, a 3 wheeler, a stroller, whatever it may be. Then again, I can't get my head around paying an exorbitant amount for anything really, but then again that's just me, as long as it does what I want, I don't care if its top of the range! To me, I could just use that money for something else, which is why I am sourcing different items at a much cheaper price, but still carefully considering quality in the process.. I think everyone knows that there is alot of money that can be spent on various items, I think it just comes down to quality and what reviews say about that particular item, which is something that I really take notice of and research the information. And if anything it saves me money and gives me something to do hey? *LOL*...

Sorry I will stop rambling on now!... hhaha.. (taken from Jen's home baby tips on baby products..) Hmm do I need a disclaimer in there somewhere? hahaha..

Jodiee

haha so true Jen, and I totally agree, we had everything with the others,, things I just didnt need, or could have done without, so this one is just getting the basics....lol

Nuddle, sorry, I had a heartattack when I read quinny and $100 in the same sentence...lol.... I thought you were ripping yourself off. But as you are a pram addict, youd know what they are all worth, anyway. lol, I had 4 prams before I knew I was pregnant, and charli wont ride in one for very long, and craig refuses to push a pram, he'd rather chase the others, so I culled down to 2, the stroller, and my 3 wheeler, and then sold my 3 wheeler to my stepsister after I bought the beema, so now Im down to 2, and I looked at/nearly bought a bertini shuttle the other week, for $100, but did refrain, I am proud of myself!!!!
I AM NOT BUYING ANOTHER PRAM, I AM NOT BUYING ANOTHER PRAM!!!!

Sorry I was just browsing this thread and i have a valco rebel and I'm now curious about whats wwrong with it, I would really like to know as I'm planning for future bubs to go into it and I don't want to use it if it's dangerous!

hi Milo,

i did some research on here and on line and there is nothing REALLY wrong with the rebel, some people feel that it is way to heavy, and that the body is to short, so it cant be used for long if bubs is big. Ive also read that it has tendancys to tip when the toddler attachment is used - but this is all only stuff i have read and not experienced my self, when i looked at it in the shop i was sold on it, but now im looking for some thing a little lighter in weight.

I hope this thread hasnt scared you!

Hi all,

I am now looking out for and opting for a Bertini Shuttle of some sort. There are the newer types out here with the weird looking mag wheels but some of them types can be really expensive. I am watching ebay, looking at local shops here and contemplating going to Melbourne for a big shop FEST! I am very picky when it comes to this pram! *L* Anyone else looking for a decent pram?

Yeah Jen I need to start shopping for a pram - so many to choose from.

so has anyone ended up buying a pram? I'm sure some of you have mentioned it in the april threads but I've probably missed it, I've only just started researching them.

I'm going window shopping this friday at babyco and hope to get more of an idea of what I want. All this researching is timeconsuming and confusing

I can't decide if I want one of those ones with a toddler attachment option or not. For the extra price is it worth it?

But I do know I want something that has a reversible handle, various laying/sitting positions for newborns up to toddlers, a decent size shopping basket and not too wide for shopping centre aisles.

I'd like to spend under $300. if I get the toddler option I'd go under $600

I can't believe how many damn prams there are out there!

What do you guys think of these ones for current bids at $150? I'm waiting on more info about the bertini one.

There is also a brand new bertini with toddler seat for $400. very tempting!

I like the look of the bertini, with the 4 wheels, but have no idea what they are really like, its right, there are so many out there, and how can you choose... I know I am on pram number 5 I think, but thanks to Belinda I am now the proud owner of a beema, and am already in love with it, lets hope I manage to stick to one pram for this baby lol.

I have had over the times, 9 (I think) prams.

For this baby, I have a Beema, and think so far it is the one I will use (Im really undecided, cause I dont like 3 wheelers), but I have the bassinet with it, so Im at least going to use it when bubs is newborn for a while, and see, if I change my mind after that.
My dearest pram was a PegPerago Venezia, with the burberry pattern, which I paid $627.00 for, and hated!
I wouldnt go, if you can avoid it, for a pram with the smaller wheels, the bigger the better.

There are heaps of Beemas around, they must be a good pram, and also won Choice awards best/safest/most reliable pram last year.
I really want a shuttle when bubs is out of the bassinet, but we'll see, the Beema may be great.

I love the look of the Steelcraft Transaction,
http://www.britax.com.au/Websites/Business/brproddb.nsf/LUPages/Strollers-Transaction, but you cant get a toddler seat with it..

If you like 3 wheelers, the valcos are great, and you can get toddler add on's.

Another thing, if you live by a toys r us, they have a fantastic deal, with a 3 wheeler, a toddler seat, a bassinet, cover etc, etc for around $200, or their catalogue has great prams for half price:

hmmm... the great pram dilema !

Light weight, ability to lift in/out of car boot with ease, fold up + assembly & a 'bar' handle are my main needs (due to disability).

I've shop tested a few and I really want to get the Peg Perego Aria (5.7kg) but it doesn't fully recline (i.e. lay totally flat) so apparently (depending on who you talk to) it isn't suitable until bubs is 3 months.
Question: Does anyone have any input on whether you have to fully recline bubs it does recline quite a lot... but not flat... how important is flat for 0-3 months ??

Another option is the Roger Armstrong Elfin 2 (abt 7kg).

We won't be buying it until closer to bubs arrival so I don't lose 3 months of the warranty before I even get to use it.

I've heard good things from a couple of friends about the Beema Q, but unfortunately for me its too heavy and bulky. Other than that the Phil & Teds E3(?) has attachable todler seat and they have fixed up the minor strap problem that was mentioned in the 'Choice' survey.

I had a pram from Target for laura, just a mothers choice one, and it didnt fully recline, it did sit up, I dont know, about 30 degrees, and she did great in it, cause she was very nosey, even as a newborn, and wouldnt go even into her bassinet unless it was 'propped up' anyway.
I know it isnt supposed to be safe, but as long as your bubs isnt side sleeping, it'll be fine.
The only reason I didnt like my peg, is because of the wheels, when I walked along the footpath, it got stuck on the smallest bump in the footpath etc, even like, there I was walking, and BANG, the pram would stop instantly, sooooo many times I walked straight into the handle hard, cause of it, Ive heard lots of people say the same thing, I have a great forum link for pram reveiws (and they all love peg's), if anyone wants it, it will help HEAPS.
One of the ladies at school has an elfin, and loves it, because it is so compact.
The P & T is also gorgeous, but expensive, and they are also known to fade quite a bit.

Jo - thanks for the heads up on the Peg Perego wheels .... the last thing I need is to be stopped dead in my tracks it would throw me off balance in a second...... I am interested in the link you mentioned.. can you post it ??

I think we will probably go with the Roger Armstrong Elfin... it isn't that expensive so if it turns out to be a dud I haven't spent too much.

We've got the Beema too! It's a great pram. It's black and green (so perfect for boy or girl:) ), is narrow to get down aisles when shopping, is easy to fold and fits well in the boot.
We got the half price bassinette with ours too...got the lot for $300 which we were really happy with.
From Babyco.

Colly that SC 3 wheeler looks great, it was high on my list but I ended up getting lucky with a 6 month old 2nd hand SC on ebay!"Steelcraft ebony layback with reversable handle" $150 :)

I feel in love with the Phil and Ted and Bertini's but not the price tag.

I also found a cheap SC pram on another auction website today for $30 that will be great for nanna :)

KAZ i think newborns have to be placed in a flat laying down position until they are 3 months old.

KAZ i think newborns have to be placed in a flat laying down position until they are 3 months old.

They are supposed to be..........both my boys would do the situps thing at 7-8wks, so they were both sitting upright in prams by 8wks. It was the only way I could keep them happy. I even turned Matthews carseat around at 12wks. 1hr of screaming every days because he wanted to sit up was too much to handle while trying to drive.

I had a Peg Venezia and had to trade it in - i got it because i wanted to be able to see bubs when we went walking but it was so useless that it just had to go.

We have a mountain buggy storm which is awesome i love it so much! its very light, compact and is all terrain.....
