I was just reading a few posts from mums looking at moving to Newcastle wanting info on good schools and safe suburbs. I couldn't resist putting a thread on about our beautiful family home that we are selling in Newcastle. We are located in Valentine, a lakeside suburb with a primary school considered one of the best in Lake Macquarie. Valentine is a safe suburb with fantastic "neighbourhoods" for kids and a strong community focus. The local village shops include a general store, Aust Post, hairdressers, beautician, butchers, bottleshop, newsagency, Chinese takeaway and more (we even have a BP servo and a local swimming pool all within our village style community - no high rises here!). Also, we are only an easy 25min drive to Newcastle's CBD.
We have several parks, a boat ramp, bike tracks for kids and plenty of amazing walking trails through the bush or purpose build paths along the lakes foreshore.
Valentine has a mix of people from wealthy living along Dilkera Avenue on the waters edge to mid-range income earners as housing is more expensive being so close to the lake but not unreasonably priced.
We are only selling because we own our own business and need 4 car garaging to store all of our equipment. Without any doubt we are staying in Valentine when we move.
It is really really important to me to sell our home to a family. We have made lifelong friends in our street and within our direct neighours we have 10+ kids ranging from 3 upwards that all have a fantastic time playing together (our street is a safe "no through road").
Now to our house, it has always felt like a holiday to us. We are amongst the top of the gum trees overlooking a reserve in our backyard with the possums and birds visiting). It's made of western red cedar and was designed and built by an architect for his own family and has a spectacular high ceiling and other striking features. It has four bedrooms with the master having direct access to the bathroom, has an open plan (caesar stone) kitchen, lounge and dining and has a rumpus with the 4th bedroom and second bathroom downstairs. The block size is over 850sqm and while the backyard is set up high in the treetops the yard and reserve below is an adventure playground for kids over the age of say 7yrs. We have created a front yard (completely private from the street) as an entertaining area and kids playground with a sunken trampoline, cubby and built in slippery dip. There’s a double garage with additional storage underneath and a workshop. The yard is very low maintenance and we keep our backyard and reserve maintained by whipper snipping (you don't even have to do it yourself as our neighbour is a mower man and can keep it trimmed for about $60 every 8weeks or even more). We are listed on www.domain.com.au (http://www.domain.com.au/) under Valentine (8 Robertson Road) for $629,000.
As I said I would love to sell our house to a family, it would be a waste otherwise. Please email me if you have any questions robandnikki@exemail.com.au (robandnikki@exemail.com.au), I would love to hear from you.
Thanks, Nikki
