How often are you vomiting? Have you lost weight? Are you keeping fluids down? Have you tried eating really small and really regular amounts of food like crackers with cheese or something?

It has taken me 10 weeks into my second pregnancy to realise and vocalise that the "morning sickness" that I suffer is not normal and is in fact hyperemesis. I have lost about 5kg this time so far which is pretty good, I had lost that much by 8 weeks last time. I cannot do anything. I spend my days in bed or on the couch, getting up to go to the toilet or make my DS food. There is no way I could work while pregnant, that's for sure. I can barely parent my son.

Zofran has helped the last few days in allowing me to keep enough fluids down and small amounts of food after I ended up having IV fluids, etc. this week, but I hate taking meds in pregnancy. I cannot take maxalon, but like all things it works for some and not for others. I am hanging out till the 16 week mark when it stopped with DS and hoping it doesn't go for longer this time.

I went through my entire first pregnancy just sucking it up apart from several IV rehydration hospy trips and even til recently in this preg, calling it morning sickness, but it got so depressing because people who have normal morning sickness don't understand what it is like and offer well meaning suggestions like I did above about the cheese on crackers, but really there is little that helps.

Talk to your doctor again if you are really ill. There are various meds, but do your research on them all too.

Hey hun. I was exactly the same when i was pregnant. i found maxalon helped but i had no appetite i ate because i knew i had to and i could only eat a small amount of foods. I lived in apples, oranges and nachos funnily enough.

Def speak to your doctor if it gets worse or you start to lose weight. I lost over 10kgs in the first 12 weeks.

:hugs: its the worst huh? if you havent hit 12 or 13 weeks yet, you can keep your fingers crossed it will ease and stop by then. as for most people it does. unfortunately, if it stays so severe, you start losing weight, become dehydrated and get worse, it could be Hypermesis. i have had it in both pregnancies. in my first it lasted the entire pregnancy, and this time, the severe nausea and vomitting lasted around 18 weeks. after that i only threw up once a day, morning, and felt nauseous on and off in the day. it has come back a few times but eases again.
Maxalon doesnt do much for it unfortunately. there is a more effective medication, but it is VERY expensive, and a lot of doctors wont even prescribe it.
I hope I havent scared you, you may not have this, and i really hope you dont.
you generally know you arent having "normal" morning sickness, because its not on and off.. its all day every day.. even when you are trying to sleep etc.. your skin starts becoming very dry.. you cant even keep down your saliva sometimes. I hated that the most. sometimes i couldnt even swallow.

zofran is the expensive medication a PP mentioned.
for me it was all i could have as i am allergic to maxalon.
it is very expensive but if nothing else works its worth a try. if ur dr won't give it to you next time u r horribly sick head up to the hospy and more than likely they'll give u a dose of it along with iv fluids and a script to take home if u ask.

phenergan is an antihistamine which is over the counter, it worked well with my sickness though only took it at night cause it makes you drowsy. check with ur Dr first before taking it though

Yep, the zofran is about $9.50 a tablet!

:hugs:they dont tell you how aweful morning sickness can be! i think the popluation would stop!
i hope yours gets less at the 12 week mark. Maxalon and zofran did not work for me. i am still chucking away at 36 weeks as one of the lucky ones. i did it first time around too so i am back for more punishment!

keep trying different things, you may be surprised at what makes you feel better and when you are losing weight you try anything. fizzy drinks help for me. like dry ginger beer in particular. does not always work but can allow me to get some things down.

but let me tell you- babies are worth it!:hugs: hope you feel better soon

I had pretty severe MS with DD and it was horrible :hugs:

With the boys it was not nearly as bad but still bad enough to use Maxalon and Vit B which worked for me. I also found that eating helped as well!

I can't recall when it went away the times before this pregnancy but this time it passed at around 10-11 weeks.
