Sorry.
I used much more colourful language to describe it....

I hate hearing about it too. I remember I went to lunch with a friend the day before she was taking her son to be done (HER words, his dad wants it done so he will be like him :barf:) I have zero respect for anyone that does it for that reason, she also had NO idea what method was being used etc etc, just going along purely so he could look like his dad, as her DH wanted....anyways...... She was all 'woe is me' about it after lunch, saying she wasn't looking fwd to it, was making her sick (he was 3weeks old and born 5weeks prem, so corrected age was MINUS 2 weeks) and I wanted to scream at her to re-think, do some more research etc etc..... but also decided to bite my tounge, I didn't want the argument (my DS was due 2months later, and I think being pregnant with a boy made me that much more emotional about it, as there was NO WAY it was being done to my DS as 'routine'.)

I can't believe I ever entertained the idea of my little one going through this.

It's awful isn't it?

The idea of putting my son through that much pain, and permanently changing his body is just inconceivable to me. And for no reason.....

Hey each to their own and all, but a ceremony where friends and family watch the procedure being done? Ok I get its for religious reasons and all, I am just gobsmacked that they actually do it like this.

In some Muslim countries they have mass outdoor public forced circumcisions of young boys. No pain killers.

Each to their own.
