I just got back from the doc and my pap smear results came back abnormal. I got a CIN1 diagnosis, and she just wants to retest in 6 months. She knows I'm TTC, took out my implant and did my pre-conception check when the pap was done, and she didnt say anything about not TTC... I admit i didnt ask..
anyone in the same boat?
yep. me! i concieved ds with CIN1 results, and didnt get pap smears during preg, im now trying to concieve #2 and im actually going into surgery on thursday for a biopsy and removal of abnormal cells.. you can still ttc and concieve with CIN1 but they cant do anything about it while ur preg... it can (so iv found out) effect your ability to concieve, but not greatly.... (does that make sence?) i have PCOS as well as CIN1 and still managed to concieve my ds....

Thanks braydsmum! i feel better now, it would have broken my heart to know i had to stop trying for 6 months or longer!
Good luck with your biopsy and surgery, *fingers crossed* that you get good results and a BFP!
i know that feeling!! is this your first abnormal pap smear? with my first they said to get checked again in 6mths i got checked, still abnormal... i got checked a year later (cos of being preg) still abnormal, they told me to come back in 6 months and i said no... i wanted it sorted... dr refered me to a gyno and gyno is doing biopsy and stuff on thursday... if its not your first abnormal smear and you are worried or not happy with going back in 6 months then just tell ur dr you want it sorted!

Hey Alatariel, I had a pap smear when I went to the GP to confirm my pregnancy, and it came back abnormal. My GP wasn't too concerned, she said just to have another smear after I have the baby to see if it's progressed. She said sometimes the results can go back to normal in 6 months, sometimes it can stay low grade for years, sometimes it can progress to CIN 2 or 3 over the next year or so. Hope this helps! :hugs:

Awwwwwww :hugs: sorry that you didnt get good news with ur pap lucky you went in and had it done when you did. hope all works out well for you both
i was in a similar position...well not really i supose. i found out at 6wk check after dd that i had abnormal cells so had to come bak in 6mths which showd i was cin2 so i went off for colposcopy, they did biopsy which showed it as being cin3 so cell swere removed and after my first 6mth check (after cell removal) i was able to ttc as my next check wasnt for 12 mths and then 12mths again. i had ds in april, colposcopy last mth (all clear) and now go bak in 12 mths if all clear then bak to 2yr regular paps. my mum on the other hand found out she had cin 1 was ttc at time and was told to go ahead and once bub was born and she was all heald book in for colposcopy and hav treatment then (she has private health cover though so she didnt hav to be on wait list like i did for my first colposcopy, she only had to wait a few weeks wheras it took 4mths for me to get in).
good luck in ttc, i'd say if u r not preg in 6mths (hope u r thiough) i'd get pap re done if results r still the same carry on ttc.
good luck hope it was just a false alarm, thats what my dr said can sometimes happen, one mth abnormal next check perfect, something to do with hormones:confused:

Yep i get CIN1 every time i have a smear - and i go every 6 months.
I normally get sent off for a colposcopy where they doa punch biopsy and remove a tiny bit of your cervix and send it off for testing.
It has always come back as "atypical" which they say is caused by the CIN1, but the CIN1 is caused by the atypical cells. so its a viscious circle, just get regular checks and you should be ok.:fingerscrossed:

I've had a couple of CIN3 results and had surgery as a result. Last one was about 18 months ago - Dr knows and no mention at all of not trying, or that it should have any effect on our TTC.

Thanks very much for your responses, ladies :D I feel much better. I had been googling, and I'm sure you all know how that can usually do more harm than help when you are trying to stop worrying!
This is what i love about this site :D

Hi I had CIN3 removed in november last year, got the all clear at a 6 week check and fell pregnant the next week. My gyno told me there was no prob with me TTC so soon after the surgery so long as I got the all clear with the smear(which I did).
I have to get another pap smear done at my 6 week post natal check, then another 6 months after that.
Goodluck with TTC.
