I'm just over 36 weeks pregnant (not long to go now! :smiliedance: ) but I want to buy a breast pump before the bub is born.

Does anyone have any advice?

Target has a Nuk Electric on special for $84, does anyone know how long the warranty is and if they are any good?
I'm also looking at an Aussie brand "Cherub" on Ebay which will end up a bit cheaper with a 1 year warranty and a hard travel case.......but I'm unsure about not using an established brand...... can anyone help please???

I use the Avent Isis and have had no problems. It's had a lot of good reviews as well. It's good because it can attach to a disposable bottle and straight into milk bags for freezing.

I have also used the Medela one and found that to be good as well - but more so when it is attached to an electric pump.

I too use the Avent Isis and while it's good, I too will be watching this thread closely as I am wondering whether to get an electric pump.
I would think they would be more efficient.

I too will be watching closely! I like that the Isis electic pump has a manual option as well so you can use it either way but being new I haven't come across any reviews for it yet.

I used the pigeon one, its an electric one and works wonders!!!
It is very simple to use and doesnt hurt. you can adjust the speed and which it sucks. I think it was about $100 from a chemist

Medela Mini Electric. Its great. You can get bags to fit it too. Not at all painful, very efficient, can get milk storage bottles that fit it. Fantastic. I love my breast pump!!

I used the Avent Isis Manual pump - was brilliant! I loved it - was very gentle on the nips, but very effective. I could pump a full 260ml bottle in about 10 mins. It has a big handle too, not a trigger type thing, so your hand doesn't get sore.

I love the Avent Isis Manual pump too. Had mine nearly five years now, and still going strong

I had a medela mini electric pump and would happily rave about it!

I expressed fully due to both of my kids having physical problems that prevented breastfeeding ... it was easy to use, not too noisy, efficient and I could use any of my evenflo bottles with it as they were the same size!

My friend also had problems breastfeeding her son and used my pump for over 2 years until he weaned. This means that it was used consistenly for approx 3 years before she handed it on to another friend a year ago! It is still going strong at last report.

It has the mains powered or battery option, so is easy to use on the go. It is easy to clean and the components can be sourced (ie. valves etc) easily from your local chemist or baby store.

I used the larger medela pumps when still in hospital with my bubs, but found them to have less suction and to be less efficient than the little one at home ... go figure!
