Hi all,

My DS got his chicken pox vaccination done last Friday the 8th and today has developed a fever, has dull eyes and seems rather lethargic. I have checked around and the internet says that between 5 -26 dates post-vax he could develop spots but no timeframe on fever etc.

Does anyone know if it is possible for him to develop a fever etc. from this vax after over a week?

Thanks.

I think that its pretty normal. The average incubation period for CP is around 7-21 days, and the actual CP itself can have a fever (going through CP right as I type with DS).

I reckon its within a normal timeframe, but if it spikes too high or continues, see your GP, just to be sure.

thanks for the reply Roxy. Do you think the fact he has developed a fever means that he may go on to get a mild dose of CP from having the vaccine or could it just be one of those side effects that will disappear with no further side effects?

Am a bit worried seeing as I am pregnant at the moment - don't really want him getting a dose of CP even though my Ob says if I was to get it, now is the time.

Hard to tell, honestly hon....have to say though that DS didnt have a fever before the first spots, only after, so I'd have to hazard a guess and say that he might just get that slight fever and nothing else....

I had a friend who had CP whilst she was pregnant - baby was perfectly fine.
