When my daughter turned 8 I got some makeup kits from the $2 shop and gave one to each kid and let them do their own makeup. I also made patty cakes and let them ice and decorate their own cakes. A movie as a backup - Hilary Duff, Lindsay Lohan or such. Good luck:fingerscrossed:

Am I too late to add discussion in this?
My dd went to a 10yr old party on the weekend, and the girls all loved it.
Before they went to bed (it was a sleepover) the mum had them do relaxing facials (just with vit E cream in case of allergies) and pedicures so they would settle and sleep - the settled but didnt sleep.
Pizzas are always good cheap feast food as is home popped popcorn to go with movies.
These girls did play egg and spoon races (which was hilarious), bingo, painted each others faces, decorated cakes, a game very similar to all over red rover. Trying to remember what else. Hot Potato, they loved that one. How many pegs can you hold in one hand.
What the mum did was give a small prize to each winner and placed a star on a chart the girl with the most stars at going home time, got a bigger prize. She also gave stars for sportsmanship and good manners.
