Just a simple question really, when did you first take your bubba swimming, whether it be for lessons or not.....

My DD was born in the winter and we went on our first holidays with her in the summer when she was 3.5mths old and we did have a little dip in the pool with her, which she enjoyed. We started swimming lessons at 5mths, when she could sit up and had better head/neck/trunk control. DD is now 13mths and is a real water baby, loves her simming!!

My DD just started lessons about 3 weeks ago and she is 7mths. I'm getting her ready for summer. She hated the first class but is enjoying them more now and even likes going under water.:yelclap:

mum2cooper,

DS has been hitting the pool with me from about 10 weeks. We are unable to start formal lessons until I return to Australia to do the Ausswim course which I hope will be soon. At the moment we just get in for 10 or 15 minutes and play. Especially when it is hot:p

Being in Africa I am not worried about what he might catch from the pool - as at least the pool has chemicals in it.

While I wont say that DS enjoys the pool, he certainly doesn't register any objection to it.

I'm registering DS for a school-term course starting in 3 weeks for something similar. They take kids from 12weeks here. It is linked with the Royal Life Saving Society and is done at our local St John of God Hospital swim school.

So, to answer your question, Ethan will be 5 months.

Mia was around 2 1/2 months when she first had a paddle at the beach, she had her first proper swim in a pool today at 5months. She loved it. She splashed around and had a ball! She loved floating on her tummy kicking her legs and sitting in a floaty ring! Was so cute and we took so many photos!:smiliedance:

Sarah had her first trip to the pool when she was about 6 months old. She loved it so much we sign up for water classes - first one was today (http://faeml.com/sarah/) :smiliedance:

Sarah certainly looked like she enjoyed it, faeml! Hope Ethan is the same when he starts his 'lessons' next school term.

I am so thrilled that she enjoyed it so much... even the bit where she wriggled and kicked so hard that she squirmed right out of my husband's arms and went under the water! Poor Jim nearly had a heart attack, but Sarah barely even noticed

we took our son in the pool around 1 month old....just at his granparents house...it was really nice and he loved it....but he didnt stay in long as it was a bit scary for us  we were out in about 10 mins...as long as you hold them carefully and dont rely on a floating device i think its safe at a young age.....but i wouldnt do it at a public pool either untill they are older :D

my ds1 hasnt been in a pool yet.he is 17 months old i didnt want to take him swimming last summer coz i felt he was too young even though he can do lessons here at 4 months and he was 8 months at the time. i am planning on taking him to the pool so he can slowly get over his fear of water. the pool i am going to take him to has really shallow pools for littlies :) it be up to bout his waist maybe not eventhat.

I am still deciding whether to take my daughter ( 7 months) to swimming lessons. I would like to take her in the pool but I don't know if the lessons are a waste of money at this age. What exactly do you do in the pool with your baby at this age? My In-Laws have a pool so I can use it whenever I want to take her for a dip.
