View Full Version : Lila, Lilah or Lyla
I'm having major trouble with the spelling for my little girls name, she's due in August but it's doing my head in constantly thinking about this! I keep thinking I've made up my mind but then I change it again.
Her middle name will be Kate.
Please please please help me decide which spelling is the best :)
Gorgeous name! I like Lila :)
Lilha. I friend was Lihla so that is the most similar spelling.
That said, I think Lila is probably the more conventional spelling so people won't have to double glance as often when they read it.
The C Team
It's my DD's middle name- rather annoyed now that I used it as I really, really like it!
I really like all 3 but she may have a lifetime of correcting people on the 1 with a "h".
Lila :) Beautiful name.
Lila. But I nearly always prefer the traditional spellings :)
Maybe bc I am from Canada, but when I see Lila, I would say "Leela" instead of "Liela".
Lila. Its a gorgeous classical name and I think the traditional spelling looks the best. IMO putting an H on the end is unneccesary and looks like its put there just to make it "unique". It doesnt change the pronounciation in any way (although I note the comment by Jaxdonn).
Lyla reminds me of Lyle which of think of as an old mans name.
i like Lyla.. its different and eccentric..
This is our daughter's name and we spell it Lylah, a little bit different, but we love it :)
hi , lyla, I would tend to pronouce layla. Lila, I would pronouce Lila, Lilah doesnt change the pronounciation for me, still Lila. my preference would be Lila. Marie.
I like Lilah... its one of the names on my list!
Another vote for Lila - on my list also - sounds like it's getting popular!:)
I like Lyla. It is a really common irish nickname for someone whose real name is Elizabeth
Lila to me could be pronounced leela or Liela
Lila. Simple. Pretty. Love it
I went to school with a girl who's spelling was Lylia. I loved it!
Thanks everyone, I'm still confused but i've taken the Lyla off my list. One down, one to go!
