View Full Version : 2 yo not brushing their teeth
Help! Our 2 year old DD won't brush her teeth!
She has a full head of teeth, so we try and try to brush them but she's not having any of it!
We have tried doing it ourselves and singing songs.
Does anyone have any tips?
We found DS had absolutely no interest in letting us brush his teeth or even letting him play at brushing his own teeth. Until he discovered DDs electric toothbrush. He fell completely in love with the thing!!
So we bought him a Diego one. Now he walks around the house with his electric toothbrush buzzing away in his head and when he's finished, I'll get in there and do it properly for him. Problem solved.

We have a mirror at their height so they can see what they are doing.. A cup of water to dip and rinse. We also let them have a go at brushing mum or dad's teeth. A big talk about how theeth might fall out if we don't brush them and we won't have anything to chew our yummy yummy food!
We have brought DD a Diego brush aswell, but might get her a electric one and see how that goes.
She's a lil bugger though, i'll show her how to brush her teeth, then she holds the toothbrush out of her mouth and makes the brushing motions.

She might not like the taste of the paste??
I have (and this sounds absolutely ridiculous but I get screams that it is BURNING THEIR TONGUE OFF!!!!! if I don't do it) ...one tube of wiggles [whatever brand it is] toothpaste for DS1 and the colgate 'my first tooth paste] for DS2&DD
...even just water and the brushing motion to get her used to it if you think it might be the taste of the paste with be fine to start with.
We ended up getting DD an electric Dora & Diego toothbrush. She loves it. Makes the toothbrush noise.
