Hi all ,

I have PCOS and endometriosis, and my FS told me after my laparoscopy, ovarian drilling, removal of a cyst and endometriosis (lots :(), dye studies etc that I may be able to conceive within the next few months (using clomid at the moment and have ovulated twice since op in Feb, however endo is expected to make a return eventually) however if it doesn't work out, IVF is my best bet. I'm interested in an estimate of out of pocket costs for anyone who went with Sydney IVF (pricey but I have heard good things!), who wasn't on a health fund but got the medicare rebate - I can't find current info re: how much you get back! Thanks for any answers :)

Hi Ellymoe,

I went through Sydney IVF for my cycles, I think we were out of pocket roughly $3000- $5000 (sorry I know this is a big range but cant remember exactly). I think you end up paying the about $8000-$9000 per cycle and pretty much get the money back from medicare (scheduled fees), Private health dont give much back but cover the day surgery part etc. I hope this makes sense.

You can actually get the information on their fees from their website. Its under the "cost of treatment" tab.

Hope this helps you and goodluck with it all.

Thanks so much Trying!

I saw their fees on their site but I couldn't find info re: how much out of pocket I would be if I only had medicare. $3000-$5000 is better than I was expecting! Still a lot but if it works, worth every bit. From your signature it looks like it worked for you ;)

Ellymoe, I also went through Sydney IVF and I can't remember either how much we got back but im sure they can easily tell you if you give them a call. Perhaps talk to the accounts dept. They seemed to be on top of things. BTW I have one 20mo girl and am 23 weeks pregnant now thanks to SIVF.
