Hi All,

Just under two weeks prior to my period, I get all the bloating and cramps that come with the actual period -- just minus AF herself. This is NOT ovulation as this lasts for two weeks straight. All the symptoms that go with the period are there. The bloating, cramping, swelling feeling, even the vaginal discomfort that sometimes comes with a period. It then usually disappears during AF, although sometimes my second day is painful or quite painful but the rest of the AF is usually fine.

I just think this whole two weeks thing is very odd because, technically speaking, the body doesn't know it's going to menstruate until the day beforeish or day of your period and doesn't even decide if it's pregnant until around six days after ovulation. My pain starts around 2DPO -- as though it has already made up its mind that I won't conceive.

I was ttc this month and the bloating and cramps set in at the normal time... I feel quite upset and depleted about the whole thing. Also, my usual token period pimple has sprung up so I feel my chances of PG are about 1% at best.

Does this sound like endo? In terms of PCOS, I am definitely overweight but I had an ultra sound five years ago in my abdominal area and I had good, clean healthy ovaries. My sister, nor mother nor grandmother on either side have had PCOS either. My periods are regular and not heavy nor light... just average. I'm not sure if this is TMI but I'm kind of desperate to work out what's going on with my body. I feel so sad about this month's chances too!

If you're still reading this, thanks for sticking with it till the end. Any advice is appreciated.

Hi Syla

I'm not sure about endo as I don't have it but I do have PCOS. It had been quite a gap between ultrasounds for me and when they did one 18mths ago I had about 30-40 speckles :(. I'd get another ultrasound just to check out how the ovaries are doing. Bloating, sore boobs and a stagnant feeling are my thing before AF which kicks in about 7-10 days before AF. Maybe you are just more in tune with how your body is functioning now your TTC. I think you should have a chat to your GP.

I have endo and it does sound a bit like mine, except for the fact that it's 2 weeks before AF. My symptoms start only a couple of days before and last for a the first few days of AF.

Regardless of what it could be, I really think you should go see your GP.

I have pcos and I have those exact pms symptoms but mine last like a month before af sometimes, or sometimes I won't get my period at all for 2 3 months but have the pms on and off.
I've had 2 children now, one with clomid, one naturally and I still had these symptoms in early pregnancy, if it's any consolation I wouldn't give up hope based on this, your body will do what it usually does before an Af and you will still feel like your getting your period well after you even know your pregnant.
