Well my DF has left for Darwin. I dropped him off at the airport this afternoon. He leaves for Afghan sometime next week (no-one knows for sure exactly when yet). He's been pre-deployment training since April so I am ready to start getting this deployment over & done with. I'm starting a count down from the day he leaves Australia.... BRING IT ON!!

:hugs:

I know you've been wanting it over and done with so I'm glad that the time has finally arrived for him to go, IYKWIM.

It must be so hard for both of you and I admire people such as yourselves that make sacrifices by having your family apart, especially with the little one.

How long is he away for?

Thanks, emilysmumma. I have been waiting for it to start so in some ways it feels good now that he is gone. The deployment is supposed to be 6 months long but there is a possibility it will be 9 months

hey Sharvs,

I know just how you feel. My DH got back not long ago from Iraq, where he was for 7 months. Hope you're doing ok. The first and last months of a deployments are the hardest. Big Big Hugs.:hugs:

I don't know how you do it! We are so lucky to have families like you who make such a big sacrifice. :hugs:

I don't blame you for starting countdown Sharvs - most would do the same.

I'm at my wits end with my DP posted to Sydney!!

By the way, I love the Crows gear on your little one. We are a Crows family here too - the little guy is a Crow Baby so has bibs, dummies, footies everything. I would love to get him a little guernsey but can't justify $80 for a 4 mth old. Perhaps if we get into the Grand Final, I might though.....

Keep your chin up.

Hi Scout

I'm going to Adelaide tomorrow so I'm wrapped I'll be there for the preliminary final - hopefully the grand final too! Nothing beats the atmosphere in Adelaide when the crows win.... My brother bought DS a little crows guernsey. I havent got it yet, but I'll find out how much he paid for it - I dont think he would have paid that much. I'll let you know. He works across from a company that makes them so if they are a decent price I might be able to get one and send it to you.

GO CROWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let me know Sharvs - that sounds great!

I was in Adelaide a few weeks ago for 3 weeks and it was just fantastic from the football perspective but I got over being there after a few days! I got to go to a game as well, which was great even though we only played Hawthorn.

I hope you have a great trip and enjoy being with your family!

Enjoy the game on Saturday as well - I'm sick with nerves at the thought of it the Eagles thrashing us! :fingerscrossed:, they don't.
