I'm cooking a risotto for dinner tonight and the recepie calls for 1/2 cup of white wine. All I have is read, and I can't get to the shops, so is there a substitute I can use? I have beer!:chef: :chef:

:chef: You could use stock. Maybe chicken, beef or veggie. What type of Risotto are you making?
do you have bacardi, vodka, rum, or anything else in the house? you can use this, in fact jamie oliver swears by martini- i think it was martini....

We never use wine in our risottos as I can't bear the taste of alcohol, even in cooking. Just use stock.

Thanks. Turns out that something happened to my computer on Friday so I wasn't able to log on to check any replies. I just used chicken stock and it turned out yum! I was making a chicken and spinach risotto.
I did have some bacardi too! I'll have to remember that for next time.
