Hi ladies, I am 30 years old and have just been for my first fertility check up after TTC for 6 months. My periods are at present very irregular if at all and It appears I dont ovulate too often. The doctor diagnosed polycystic ovaries on the scan and due to this and other factors prescribed me duphaston and letrozol to start right away. I am a bit confused as this is all so new to me.

She said to take the Duphaston for 10 days and then this should bring on my period. Has anyone taken it and how long after taking first pill does it take for period to arrive generally? then on day 3 I return for some blood tests, being:

-prolactin
-Lh hormone
FSH

Anyone know what these are for?

Then I am told to take the letrozol (femara) from CD 3-7 (for 5 days) then apparently I will OV and then take duphaston from day 16 again. Itsd all abit confusing.

Is this fairly standard and if so, what side effects did you ladies in similar situations feel and did you OV and have any success?

Thank you all x

Hi kelly,
Welcome :celebrate:
Im on a similar kind of regieme to you but not sure if the same drugs. Firstly sorry to hear about ur TTC, it really does just suck big time!:(ANd it doesn't matter how long u have been doing it, it hurts all the time.

Anyways, i've tried chlomid (which never worked) and have been on letrozole for a little while now with great success as my cycles were irregular too and not ovulating. We have been TTC for 2.5 years and lost our first in Jan 11 but u still cracking at it!. They get me to take provera for 7 days to bring on period and usually it comes within 3 days of ceasing it but can take up to 2 weeks. Then i take letrozole on days 3-7 then scans and for me now injections. Im not sure what the other drug is ur taking but i would double check it all again. I know when they tell me stuff it goes in one ear and out the other so they write it all down for me!:)

Anyway hope this helps and good luck :fingerscrossed:
xx
