I am currently 12 weeks pregnant with my third child. My first two children have had numerous issues with allergies and intolerances - mainly dairy, soy, egg and nuts. My second child, now 2 1/2, has taken (and is still taking) Neocate LCP from 5 months of age. He also has GORD (still taking Somac) and to this day eats very little food. His only real source of nutrition comes from the formula despite my daily efforts to include meat and veges into his diet.

My husband and I are very concerned that our next child will have similar issues as our first two.

Has anyone been in a similar situation?? Will a pead allow a baby to go on Neocate without having been tested for allergies or trying the numerous formulas beforehand (ie soy or a HA formula) because of family background?

I remember reading ages ago a thread where a member said she was able to get a neonate or elecare prescription for her unborn child due to family history.
My two girls have food allergies/ intolerances. DD1 who is almost 3 has recently outgrown allergies to dairy, soy and egg, but is still allergic to tree nuts.
DD2 who is 15 months has CMSPI and recently failed a dairy challenge and had severe reflux with allergic colitis.
I'm dreading what we'll have to deal with next time.
Interestingly, DD2's paed GI has recommended that I try and minimize use of antacids during pregnancy as he has found a connection between mothers-to-be using heartburn medication and their babies producing excess stomach acid. He has also said I should eliminate dairy and soy 24-48 hrs before delivery to ensure there are no traces of the protein in my breastmilk. Anything is worth a try, right?
Talk to your paed and see what options they come up with. Good luck!
