I have set up a petition, that is being sent to the Prime Minister and all the premiers once there is enough signatures on it.
My son is 9 and at the end of this term if Education QLD do not release his funding to his private run school so they can have a teachers aide for him full time he will have no education. His main stream school is too big, overwhelming for him sensory wise, underfunded with teachers who do not understand his disabilities or abilities (more importantly) and he is pushes to the side and completes no school work and his potential in life suffers dramatically.
I know many other parents with children with special needs who have had to pull their children out of school permanently as there is not enough funding and their children's self esteem plumments from constant bullying and discrimination by children and teachers alike.
Please could you sign this and pass it on to as many people as you can anywhere you can please.
Our children don't have voices and just being a parent is hard enough without constantly fighting red tape, abuse and hurt when our little ones don't get in Australia what they are entitled too!!
thank you so very very much

I don't understand why you can't use the ASD funding at a private school? We moved to a private school and they just started getting the funding?

The private school should be able to apply for the same funding as a state school...if he's been assessed too recently to be assessed again the the funding should go with him to the private school.
Is this different in Queensland?

EDQLD reckon they have never heard of funding going to the private school!! I have had many women who have had to pull their kids out of school as there is just no schooling available and this is what is going to happen to us if they do not release the Damn funding. I have already emailed my premier and the ED minister privately and urgently but this is a subject that just keeps coming up all the time for children with disabilities where main stream school is just not set up properly for their needs!!!

I'll be signing it for sure!
Coincidentally, I'll be cancelling my DS's (Asperger's/ADHD) enrolment at our local state school because of the lack of funding .. he can only get a teacher aide for just under 3hrs a day and I cannot afford to make up the rest of the money to have her with him for the rest of the day! Nor can I afford a private school.
So I'll be schooling him from home, using the Brisbane School of distance education.
It's a sad state of affairs when children who are capable of learning aren't able to access a full-time education because of bureaucratic red tape and funding shortfalls.
signed.
It is so hard to get funding for a full time aide at many public schools so good luck with getting it for private I hope you do, I know how hard the process is, I know kids that are in wheelchairs all the time, need toileting assistance, medications etc etc that are still only getting partial hours.

maybe I just don't understand it properly, but when DD switched to her private school we got medical reports etc and they get funding for her. maybe it is different funding? We are in Queensland too.

Hi there again,
I asked my DH who is an assisstant principal and in charge of funding applications. He said when a child moves from public to public the funding goes with them, but when they go from public to private, the private school needs to apply to a different gov body for funding, but it should be east because all the reports etc hav been written up for that child by psycs, speachies etc.

Daniel has both a mental illness and ASD and is not elligable for both fundings so once they decide which funding to apply for Dan has missed all grade 3 from being suspended or sent home by 9am every morning so he is not suspended.
He is attending Autism QLD 3 days a week. They are not one or one but they are a much smaller setting where Dan feels safe. Trying to get education qld to give up the funding that is going to someone else coz my son isn't at school and when he does go thurs and fir I have to bloody stay because they are so disorganised and have no routines dans anxieties are high straight away.
I have 2 psychiatrists, a developmental paed, Dans Paed, a psychologist, OT, speechy, Case manager with CYMHS and DSQ and Dan is still falling through the cracks. He has about 1 minute at best of attention span at worst none at all, he is so anxious, has been suicidal and is volitile and erupts with sensory issues and speech issues when he doesn't understand or feels unsafe
Man i have been begging we have been doing this all on our own for so so so long, I have begged for support and help and we are not getting it and its not fair!!
I have done everything and more as a parent.
I think some people need to come live this life for just half a day and they will see what we are up against!!!!

Tenkoo mybabyjade and Missprinter!! I so appreciate it!!
So I won.....Yep, EDQLD has offered support to AQ it just depends if they accept it or not. If they don't aceept it EDQLD have come up with a support plan for Dan that is beyond incredible.
this has come from 3 years of constant emails to my premier, to EDQLD, complaints and harrassment and discrimination of my son so bad that he fears all teachers.
The District head of disabilities called me Monday and said that everything would be run passed me and everything would be done on Dans time table and how he copes!!
I am still in disbelief!!!
I will however not stop advocating for children and their families with disabilities who fall through the cracks and end up missing their schooling from lack of funding, lack of support, lack of communication and a lack of care from the community and our heads of state and country!! please pass the petition on I need as many signatures as I can get!!!!
Thanks

Did you make sure your petition is acceptable for presentation to the Assembly. Each state has diffter rules for petition. You might find that you go to all this work for the petition for nothing. Please make sure it's done right.

Ive already emailed both My premier and also the Prime Minister's office over the last 3 years and I emailed both and let them know about the petition, they both said good luck and they appreciate knowing what is going on for our kids.
Thing is no matter how many people put "buts" and negative feedback on this does not mean I will not stop!! I also have approached A Current Affair and they will be pushing for a reply in the media. This is not something that I have done lightly or just on a whim.
My son is 9 and wants to kill himself. I just wanted people to sign it and really the only place I have felt the petition has been ignored is the place that I have been giving the most attention to over the last 9 months.
As a mum if I can't do something, even as small as a petition and feel like I am achieving something for my child and other parents with children falling through the cracks then what kind of person am I. It should not of taken 3 years of heartache, sorrow and my son going backwards for this to happen!!!!
I'm not having a go at you. I don't sign petitions on go petition because they don't stand up as a real petition. I love your petition, i would sign it if it was going to get some where, which it can get some where if you go about it the right way.
If you want to do a petition for the QLD Government you need to use
E-Petition or use a paper petition. http://www.parliament.qld.gov.au/view/EPetitions_QLD/
To lodge a petition to the Senate have a look at the link below.

Sorry CJ I appreciate the links and will have a look first thing in the morning. I am totally emotionally and physically exhausted and you didn't deserve for me to be so rude when you were being constructive. from the bottom of my heart my sincerest apologies and thanks for helping me to get this out there.
Ive already emailed both My premier and also the Prime Minister's office over the last 3 years and I emailed both and let them know about the petition, they both said good luck and they appreciate knowing what is going on for our kids.
I'm disgusted at their replys. It should be good luck, Now how can we help you. People vote these MP in. I would be (if you haven't all ready) Call or go see an independent MP. Call or see them. Make them work for you.
FunKy~Mummy don't worry about it, I didn't take it too heart. :hugs::hugs:
I have also signed the petition.

Glad you got funding!
The school sound bit odd suspending him all the time when they should be supporting him?

My daughter has an aide at her Catholic school one-on-one whereas if she went to the local state school she would have 1 aide that would be split between the entire class, and there's a high number of children in that school needing support in the classroom. I wish there was more funding going to the public schools though because then we wouldn't have a need to put kids like this into private schools.
