Hi all,

My DS phoenix keeps getting constipated all the time...& i think its cause he eats so terrible.
Honestly i dont know how he gets through the day. when DH gets up with him..he gives him Coco pops...everyday! cause thats what he screams for...if you go to get him anything else he wont eat.
He doesnt eat any fruit, he wont eat sandwhichs...they only good thing i know of that he eats is yogurt.
Terrible i know...but i try to feed him things but he just wont eat them. I waste so much food its not funny...just trying to get him to eat healtier. He doesnt even eat cheese.
So i do think thats the reason he is getting constipated. What can i do??

I would think it is probebly a lack of fibre in his diet. If I were you I would stop the coco pops and only offer him wheat bix, porrage or muslie or something else that is high in fibre (and low in sugar) also make sure he is drinking plenty of water during the day. Remember kids will not starve themselves
My DS went through a period when he was constantly constipated so after a high fibre diet had no effect I took him to the Dr. She said his fibre and water intake was enough so she put him on "Parachoc" for 2 mths. Basicly it just help get his system back to normal, it now been 9mths and he has not been constipated since.
Other medical problems can cause constipation so if you are still having issues get it checked by your GP

Coco pops are defo not helping. DH gave them to DD for 2 mornings in a row, not only did it bung her up but it made her super hyperactive and just so horribly behaved!
Try buying fruit in syrup and maybe just grating some of the fruit into his yogurt?

With DD she will only eat the weight watchers fruit salad tubs. They are so yummy she thinks of them as a treat. They come in little tubs aswel, kinda like a yougurt tub. You may want to give it a try.

Other than that, just grate small bits of fruit into his yougurt, it's go a bit mushy but try it, see if he likes it.

Have you tried giving him a fruit drink once a day?
That always loosens DD up.

Since he was 5mths old (and had a spinal block during surgery), DS has only gone once every 3-4 days, and it's been an effort. In fact it's always been an effort, but before the surgery he went every day.

Last Thursday I took him to a chiropractor who does a special technique called Network Spinal Analysis. He pooed that night, and has every day since, sometimes twice a day. The nerves relating to his intestines were blocked.

This chiro was telling me that she had a 15mth old girl come in who had never done a poo on her own (had to have enemas sp? since birth). After once session, she pooed on her own that night and has ever since. Paed's had written her off pretty much.

Definitely worth looking into.

There have been tonnes of other benefits to DS' treatment, and they were almost instant. I'm going to document them all and post them on BH in the next few days, as I think it could definitely help a lot of people. This includes being much calmer and more settled, and actually taking proper naps (b/w 1-3hrs, 2-3 times a day) instead of catnaps. His body has been overproducing adrenaline since birth, as the nerves for this were being overstimulated!

Anyway, sorry to digress, but I think it's worth looking into.
