HI everyone ...
I'm 31 weeks PG and my Little One is still in breech position ... has not turned .. YET !!!
I'm having a scan in 3 weeks so see what he is up to ...
Does anyone at that stage have their Little One is breech position as well ? Is there a decision that has been made regarding an eventual C/S ?
Thanks Ladies and "enjoy" your last few weeks ( with all the goods and bads , IYKWYM !!! ) ...

My sister was breech until 38 or 39 weeks. And when the baby did turn his butt around, he still had his back in the wrong position. But he turned his back the right way somewhere in the 24 hours before she gave birth :)
Oh, and when my mum was pregnant with my little sister, she was breech right up until the day before she was born :)

I dont think the doctors get too concerned with a breech presentation until you hit about 36 weeks. Even still after that they can turn.
Good luck and i hope bubby turns soon for you. :fingerscrossed:

Hi Beatrice
I'm around 31 1/2 wks and at my last midwife apt, mine was still breech too. My next scan is on Monday and if it hasn't turned by then, another scan will be scheduled for 36 wks. At that stage, they offer 3 choices - they can try to turn the baby manually (from the outside and it can be quite painful, apparently), you can book in for a C/S, or you can wait and see if it turns itself and if not, try to deliver breech naturally (if you can find an OB willing) and opt for a C/S then if it doesn't look like happening. Given that you've gone through IVF to get here (am I correct?), the latter probably isn't a good idea - IF you can find a doc who will deliver breech, they may make you sign a waiver to absolve them of blame if something goes wrong.
Basically, as the others have said, in many cases the little treasure will turn itself, but there are some things you can do to try to get it into the optimal position - do a web search on Optimal Foetal Positioning. Unfortunately, lots of bubs are presenting posterior and breech now, compared to even 20 years ago, because our lifestyles are different - we tend to recline when we relax and spend a lot of time in the car, etc.
Good luck! :fingerscrossed:

Hi there,
My last bub was still breech at 36.5 weeks. And as SJ has said about her sister, babies can often turn during labour. As I was booked at a birth centre the midwives made a few motions indicating that if baby didn't turn, i would have to birth at the BIG hospital. I was so determined not to do this-they also said finding an OB who would deliver a breech bub would be difficult (they all want to do C-secs, apparently). Anyway, I used Chinese medicine in the form of Moxibustion to help my baby turn and there are a few of us here at bubhub who have done this with positive results. My baby turned the day before the midwives were to hand me over to Dr care!
On the plus side, a lot of babies are breech at 31 weeks and most will turn naturally before 36 weeks, so you still have a month to relax and let baby do his thing!
If you want any more info on moxibustion, just send me a PM. I'm happy to help where I can.:D

Hi
Just to let you know I am 32 weeks and bubs is still breech. My 1st was breech until 36 weeks so no need to panic just yet:)
I actually spent alot of time floating on my belly in the spa bath and crawling around on all fours. Apparently this allows baby more room to turn around.
All I know is that I woke up at 3.30am (with my 1st) and stood up to go to the loo when my belly did this huge roll and a lurch. Got to my appointment with the drs later that morning and presto she had turned.
Will let you know when this one turns :fingerscrossed:

Hi Kirstlea :
You made me laugh when you said that your BB changed position while you were going to the loo ... I imagine the sensation you had in there ...!!!
Good luck and thanks for sharing your experience .

Well Ladies .
I went to see my OB today , and guess what , my BB decided to have his head down for 15 minutes !!!
As soon as we got out of his office , he went back into his normal position  ...
Oh well ... when he's ready , he'll stay in the right one !!!:p

^ That's good though because at least you know he still has room to turn around so he'll probably do it soon!
HI
Just wondering if any one has any ideas on turning a baby that is lying as a footling breech but head tucked under the right side of my ribs oblique position. I am nearly 36 weeks. I have been onmy all fours but how much should I do this. I also have pelvic girdle pain quite bad now so is hard to be like that for too long.
Any help would be grateful

Hi Dawn:wave:
I was wondering how you were going as I haven't seen you post for a while.
My baby too is still breech but my first didn't turn until just after 36 weeks so its not uncommon.
If you have a big bath, pool or spa floating on your stomach can be helpful as your body is stretched out and gives baby room to move. I have just started making myself float in the spa for atleast half an hour each night before I go to bed.
Kills two birds with one stone;) Makes me relax and hopefully will help baby to do what its supposed to do.
There is another thread in the pregnancy general chat section or pregnancy health, can't remember which, about ideas for babys in breech position which talks of some chinese remedy.
Hope this helps. Exciting isn't it, only 4 weeks to go.
Let us know how you go.

Kirstlea : THANK YOU !!!
You know what , what I thought was his head was actually his bump !!! so I have been , or I was cuddling his bump all this time !!!!  ... lucky little Man !!!
HI
Thanks for the advice , baby still seems to prefer head tucked up nicely under my ribs, am 36 weeks now, I get down on all fours and baby thinks its is a good time then to move right up to my sternum, never mid I keep trying. Baby feels like it is getting bigger veryday now and so do I!!!!! I have quite bad pelvic pain so generally stay at home now too, think it is the position Fimpy is in. DH thinks it looks funny to see me on my all fours! But is hard work.

ROFLMA - that is cute.
Dawn - we are both due at the same time, don't stress too much, I too am trying to get my baby to turn still. The pelvic pain isn't much help I know but keep at the crawling. Actually I did some gardening the other day, I just got a towel and crawled around pulling weeds whilst dragging a towel around for my knees.
Atleast I felt constructive instead of silly.
Goodluck

DD1 was breach until 36 weeks and my OB was confident that she would turn and she did. They are still flipping around in there until the birth (heaven knows how).

But that's just it, it didn't faze my OB, so I didn't even realise that it was a matter for concern  I just expected that it would happen - never occurred to me that it might not...
(dunno what that says about me :D)

Hi Beatrice
My next appointment with my OB is Tuesday but while I am in the hospital on Monday morning I am going to give him a call to let him know what is going on and get his advise. Hes away on holiday this week so haven't been able to contact him.
I have been going share care with a private OB (don't have medical insurance - not much point up here with no choices) and having bubs via the public system. Its the public system that is not being very supportive of my wanting to wait an extra week for bubs to turn.
Hubby and I have decided if the public system is going to push us have a c/s too soon that we will just fork out the dollars to go private. :fingerscrossed: Its not too late to go that way.
Will keep you posted. :)

Avalon (Baby #3)was in breech posi till 38 weeks.I was stressing as both births before were vb and was told I would HAVE to have a c-section even though I said I would write a letter stating I would be responsible (I had already had an 11lb baby #1 vaginally with no stitches/meds so was confident that I could do it)My midwife was great but said the doctors attending wouldn't let it happen. She also suggested the moxa sticks(moxibustion)they are not a medical solution as such but our local middies have just started using them as they have a high success rate.Fortunatley she turned at 38 weeks and delivered normally 1 week later after a 1 hr labour. My advice is not to stress yet but talk about your options and ask about the moxa sticks. They also say getting down on hands and knees helps the baby turn(you need to do it everyday throughout the day)it's also a great way to get the floor clean if your nesting!

Thanks AimeeB
It has been suggested that I have a chat with the midwives as they are alot more proactive in not interfering with nature, its the doctors that don't seem to have a clue
I will ask about those Moxa sticks for sure.
The crawling around on all fours is a bit of a killer for me but I have been trying and I also do alot of floating on my belly in the spa. My next mission is get a packet of frozen peas and planting them on this childs bum, we'll see if that gives it a short shift

Kirstlea :
Poor thing , you are definitely trying everything ...
Yes , I also heard of those sticks ... why not trying ....
Frozen peas ... oh my God ... never thought of that !!!
I'm going through shared care as well : private OB ( he followed me for IVF ) and public hospital for the birth . We have not got private insurance as well ...
I'll be thinking of you on Monday as I read on the other thread that you were going to the hospital for the turn ...:fingerscrossed: :fingerscrossed:
Good luck and let us know how both of you are going ... Take care .

Hi Beatrice
Well there was no way this baby was going to budge this morning so I have been booked in for a c/s this Thursday:eek: .
All happening a bit quick but I also don't want the risk of having an emergency c/s and leaving it til next week is too close to call.
You never know it may just realise its time to move by Thursday with any luck.
I will let you know the end result :)
Thanks for the support :hugs:
