View Full Version : Help New member- which clinic in Perth ? I am from Germ, any
Hi all, i have no idea how this forum works. I couldn find a way to post my question ....Does anyone know a really good fertility clinic in Perth which can be recommended ? I have to undergo ICSI - i already have a perfect 18 month old girl via ICSI. Do the results from Germany are excepted ? I have no time to start all research again. The sperm of my husband is the only reason.I am 38 now...the time is running. How much can i get back from Medicare ( NOT safty net )? ( i have the permanent visa.) And where is the waiting list short ? PLease help ! Thanks for answers.:cheerleader2:

Hi Krose,
Where do you live? I went to Dr Margo Norman at Fertility North which is based at Joondalup hospital. I absolutely love Margo and was very happy with the clinic. I was pregnant after my first cycle and I believe the clinics stats are as good as anywhere else in Perth.
If you don't live north of the river though, I would recommend Hollywood Fertility Clinic in Nedlands. Dr Simon Turner is an excellent specialist there. It may take quite a few months to get an appt with him though,so I would actually take the first appt with any of the Drs there if you are in a hurry. The doctors all work together and you spend a lot more time with the nurses anyway. I am not sure if they will need to redo any of the testing you had in Germany.
In regards to medicare. My cycle (IVF only...ICSI costs $300 more at fertility north) cost $6400 up front and I ended up being $1800 out of pocket after the medicare rebate was paid (I had not reached the safety net yet). If you don't have private health insurance, it will be another $850 in day surgery fees for the egg collection.
In terms of waiting lists, the biggest wait is for the initial appt with the specialist. If they don't need to do many tests, you will probably be able to start when you get your period after your appt.
Hope this helps. Good luck.
How long is the waiting time to see a specialist at the clinic ?? And can i give me the injections myself or is this not possible because of the policy of the clinic ? What is the first step ? Only the app. with the specialist and then i can start the treatment ?
Thanks again....

The waiting time to see the specialist depends on who you want to see. It can take 3 months for some specialists. Once you decide on a clinic, I would give them a call and ask them for the next available appt with the 1st available doctor. Once you have the doctors name, you need to go to a GP and get a referral to see that specialist. Apart from Fertility North and Hollywood that I mentioned before, the other clinics that I am aware of are Concept, Fertility Specialists WA and Pivet.
Once you have seen the fertility doctor, they will arrange for you to meet with the nurses at the fertility clinic and let you know of any tests you will need before they proceed. I also had to go to an IVF meeting at the clinic which explained the process and you also need an appt with the counselor at the clinic for you and your husband to sign consent forms. My clinic (fertility north) arranged all this relatively quickly (within a couple of weeks). But I don't know if is the same in Germany, I felt as though I was waiting a long time for things to start.
You give all of your own injections. The nurse gives you a plan and your drugs and you do most of it at home and just go in for blood tests and scans to see how your cycle is going. If you have all your drug doses etc from Germany I am sure that will help you.
Take care, I hope you get in to see someone as soon as possible. I know the waiting is extremely frustrating.
