One of the families i work for, i look after a two year old girl and normally the dad gets home before the mum and I just get a cuddle goodbye but once in a while the mum gets home first and everytime she says to the little girl "give laura a kiss goodbye!" and this means a kiss on the lips! Numerous times ive tried to turn to make it a kiss on the cheek but this little one has quite good aim! I dont know what to do because I think even when I have my own kids i wont be kissing them on their lips, anyway so my question is is there an way i can get out of this? Anyone have any advice?
Tell the mum you have the cold sore virus!;) :p
Seriously though, i would make a point of giving the child kisses on the cheek. I would also just point to my cheek as i was leaving as an invitation to kiss and direction on where. How old is she? Perhaps you could also play games with her dolls and kiss them goodbye on the cheek.
When i was nannying i wasn't too concerned by that as it was always quite innocent but i can understand how it would make you uncomfortable. Maybe you could also just have a word with the mum and let her know that it makes you uncomfortable. The important thing with nannying is consistancy so it helps if you have the mother on side as well.
I hope that helped a bit at least! :)

I was also going to suggest, point to your cheek/turn your cheek and tap it next time her mum say's "give laura a kiss goodbye!" She's probably just used to kissing her family on the lips everytime she hears that so she goes straight for those lips!:p
Let's hope you don't get sick anymore too!
Cold sores seems to be so easy to pick up. I think sometimes we underestimate how much children can pass them on just as much as adults.
Goodluck!:fingerscrossed:

thats the problem i always try to turn my head and she manages to get it smack on my lips!!! Its usually when the mums holding her and so the mum is also helping to get on target  then when shes not holding her she normally reaches up for me to pick her up so i think next time ill bend downt o her level and tap my cheek!! Thanks girls!
how bout trying to make a game outa of it and pul bak wen she tries to kiss you and then kiss her on the cheek

I know its not the worst thing in the world but for some reason I feel uncomfortable with it and also this little one picks up a lot of bugs in daycare

i know the feeling! my neice has always been taught to kiss me on the lips & it makes me uncomfortable! i am not even that comfortable kissing my own daughter on the lips (she gets millions all over the rest of her face from me, tho!)
maybe u could also let the mum know that it might not be a good idea to teach her daughter to kiss other ppl on the lips... what if she decided to do it to a stranger?
My cousin used to kiss me on the lips all the time and i hated it. It just felt wrong. She was about 7 at the time.
Anyway, this is the way i dealt with it. Next time i went to her house i made sure i had lots of lipstick on, then when she went to kiss me, i jumped back and said 'On the cheek sweetie, i don't want you to smudge my lipstick'! Perfectly reasonable request. She completely understood because of her age, she was just getting into lipsticks and pretend lipgloss's etc.
Every time after that she always used to go to kiss me on the lips, and then she'd remember that she mustn't smudge my lipstick, and she would kiss me on the cheek!
I thought that was very clever of me.:D
Prob wouldn't work for you though, as she's a bit young for all that.
