As the title says ... I'm looking into offering a baby sitting/child minding service for clients while they attend an appointment at my business.

To give you an idea, I'm a Remedial Therapist, so clients are usually with me for around an hour and I've found in the past, mums wait until husbands get home in the evenings/week-ends or worse, just suffer through the pain as they can't find time to 'get away from the family' ... so I thought I'd look into this service for one day a week/fortnight.

Thing is I have no idea on where to start looking at the rules/regulations? Local Council? State Government?

Any help would be appreciated ... thanks. :)

I think it's a great idea, just like occasional daycare or the creiche (sp) at the pool. Not a problem for me and would be great. I think it would def be good for business.

But I think you should charge for it, but something like $3 an hour. That's what the pool does.

Thanks ladies ... I'll keep researching. I'm not sure if insurance plus government regulations will make it too expensive ... but we'll see.

The dental clinic my SIL works for offer this for $10 a procedure (some take longer, but still the same rate). She puts her son in while she is working and has lunch with him during her break. The other dental nurse does the same thing. Her boss is thinking of closing it though as for the six months it has been open there has been a lot of days when only employees have their kids in. They are also tossing up the idea of offering it two days a week and promoting those days with their family clients.

I don't know the details but thought an example of it in practice may help.
