Stains...

I have been getting some BF poo stains on the nappies...i have been rinsing them before the wash cycle....is there something i am missing that is causing this??what can i do to get rid of them as i dont think i can soak in nappi san or anything can i????

DO NOT soak them in napisan! You will kill them! Do you hang them in the sun to dry? Normally the sun will get any left over stains out.

yeah, just leave them out in the sun the stains should go, (at first i thought, soak in napisan..but better not, just in case!) are they fancy ones?? i only used to use terry towling ones and used to soak them in white king and that worked well for me. anyhow, hope that helps!! :fingerscrossed:

What sort of nappies are you using and do you use fleece liners?

Fleece liners will help prevent stains on the nappy themselves and they rarely stain because they are not an absorbant material. When rinsing, do you use cold or hot water? Hot water may set some 'natural' stains so cold water is much better.

Also, what is your washing machine like and what sort of wash cycle are you using? Longer wash cycles are better for washing nappies because it gives them a chance to be fully washed out (did that make sense??) as opposed to shorter or 'quick' cycles. And finally, line dry in the sun if possible - even on a cloudy day you'll get plenty of uv rays that will bleach the nappy.

I find that sunlight will remove any stains the wash misses.

Thanks for the replies! Its mainly on the hemps and the GK pockets. My terrys are fine. I have a packet of liners but havent used them...DUH...will do from now on and hope the sun gets rid of some stains.

I used to get stains on my fuzzis and squirting lemon juice on them and THEN leaving them in the sunlight worked lots better than just the sun on its own :D
