Hey there
I wouldn't worry about sterilising all the feeding equipment. I just wash our things with lots of hot soapy water, as I would any other dishes, and rinse well.
ok thanks so very much thats what i have been doing so thats great
THANKS

I'm with Nicole ... no need as far as I'm concerned. When my two started on solids their bowls and spoons were cleaned like everything else and rinsed well. Don't create any more work for yourself!
cheers,
Yep - I agree... I just wash them in hot soapy water, or run them through the dishwasher... All good so far...
Cheers!

I have to say that I'm a bit picky about this one. Not a bad one tho, just that I wouldnt put his stuff in dishwasher together with our stuff, to avoid oily stuff, i know our dishwasher will take care of good of it,...but...but...I wash his feeding equipment separately.
Good news tho, I only sterilising his bottles stuff! :D

I'm all for stopping sterilising and just washing with the family dishes with a final rinse of very hot water as soon as our little ones are on the floor, touching grubby things and putting thier fingers in thier mouths!
If we keep all germs away from them they are more likely to develop allergies, asthma and other "clean" related problems!

Im with Kyra on this one. Once my DD started crawling and getting into things I wasnt as concerned about sterilising. Our CHN also said that we could stop months ago.
I just clean her things really well and with her own dish brush. It doesnt get used for anything other that her cups, spoons, bowls etc.
I sterilise the everything the first time (ie, before they are used) as from then on, I know where they have been ! His bowls just go into the dishwasher, but I check them when they come out to ensure that they are really clean.
The nurse at the health centre said, as long as baby things are clean (just like other things in our homes) then bubs will be fine. Mind you, there are some people who will always sterilise everything - and maybe they are right ... who really knows ! I do know that my sister said that she was told to sterilise everything ... but then when her son turned 1yo, suddenly nothing needed to be sterilised. She thought this was rather stupid ... what miracle happened when he turned 1yo to mean that he no longer needed sterilised things ? Made a lot of sense to me !!
My beautiful boy has just started solids too ... and he is 5 months ... and my name is Belinda !! How weird is that !!
Best of luck with everything !
