Does anyone have an advice on how to deal with flat nipples? I have a slightly premmie baby who is making progress attaching, but is getting a little frustrated. I have been trying to use the medela breast shields which appear to help bring the nipples out, but my little guy can stimulate let down, but the milk pools in the shield a little before he gets it.
Any & all advice will be accepted :)

Hummmm.... Not sure if it would work or not while bfing... But google the avent niplette. it draws the nip out and keeps it pretty erect until you flatten it again.. .. Long enough for baby to latch on at least. Sorry if that doesn't help!
Hey Hun sounds silly when bub is at the hospital but I would call ABA there should be some info in your new mum pack. Even if they haven't got any new ideas they are wonderful to talk to don't be scared I called a couple of times late at night with DD and they really helped! Good luck!

Can you try a nipplette? I think thats what they are called. It helps to draw out the nipple so bubs can latch. Otherwise maybe a small bit of expressing before attaching bubs.
Good luck with breastfeeding. My mum has inverted nipples and she had to express for me and my sister. She managed 8 months for me and 10 months for my sister.

she was really lovely. going to see her today to pick up some books on premmies & breastfeeding. i joined the ABA yesterday. paid my 2 years subscription  she has encouraged us to work with him to get him out of special care. she has supported us in getting him on the bottle with EBM to get him out of special care & then she will work with us to get him going at the breast. the scn isn't the best environment for him. obviously it's great for him to have medical attention whilst he needs it. spoke to the paediatrician yesterday & all he has to do now is suck his way out

Trying to get my hands on the Medela nipple formers. Hubby's work has got them on order for me. Didn't like the idea of the avent one.
