Ok I know getting a uterine infection after birth is very common, weather it be C/S or V/B .. but im just wondering how long is the bleeding supposed to last for?
for a little background - i am 3 weeks post partum, noticed some bright red blood yesterday, wasnt too heavy- google told me i may be over doing it and rest and if it was more blood than would soak a pad in an hr call the Dr.
So i went to lie down, had a mass bleed... called 13 HEALTH for some advice and was only told to 'please proceed to the nearest hospital with emergency facilities'
So took that advice about midnight last night. Got seen by the Gyno who i had seen whilst waiting for my C/S who was lovely as he knew our situation and so was very understanding. He diagnosed an infection, he let me go home with some antibiotics to take and see if it clears up - he said to call if my temp goes up or i feel weak / lethargic etc as i may need an IV. He wasnt really wanting to keep me in as we didnt have a great hospital stay and he thinks making my life as normal as possible right now is the best thing for me mentally.
Anyways, 24 hours later - i feel ok. but the bleeding is still as persistant as ever. Where does it all come from?! i mean, i know you bleed a fair bit with AF but thats wall lining, not actually 'blood' so to speak... but I dont feel weak or anything..
I guess im just wondering if anyone out there has had this and how much blood is normal, and is it supposed to stop or...?
