View Full Version : Do you know somebody who lost their camera in Brisbane today?
Or somebody who meets the following description -
- couple in their 30s
- two children - approx. baby under 1 and 4yo
- maybe live in Redland area or in that council area
- went to Lone Pine today or recently
- husband/man may have initials FR
- may have some association with a top tier accounting firm
I was going to take it to the local police station tomorrow, as I don't know what else to do with found items, as I just found it on my normal walk today, so there was nobody I could give it to.
I feel bad for them as there are loads of pictures of their kids, and it's a nice camera.

Maybe upload one of the pics and create a facebook page. Others have found the owners of photos and cameras by doing that.
I was thinking about that, but I feel that would be a violation of their privacy. BUt, yeah, maybe if I don't have any luck otherwise.
There's a picture of an envelope with a name which I'm thinking might be the husband. I couldn't find the name on white pages, but it's got a company name, so I will phone the company on Monday to see if he works there.
If I lost an item I would contact the police, so I'm hoping they would do the same thing.
I assume the police accept lost items?
if you do go the facebook route, maybe crop the pictures so there's only adults visible? (i think its iffy to put pics of kids up, but adults is ok in that kind of circumstance, imo)
or better to call the company
I wouldn't have felt comfortable publishing the photos.
But I think I have found the owner. There was a picture of an envelope with a name. I looked up the name on FB. There were several, and one had an open wall but no picture of him. There was reference to the wife's name, and I found her page, and her picture is from the camera, so I've sent her a message.
So hopefully a happy ending!
(Hopefully it's not something awful that they've just broken up and thrown the camera out in rage or something, and never want to see it again!)

And how amazing is facebook for finding people and solving life's little riddles. You should have been a detective.
Thanks, Annabella! People keeping lost items is one of my pet hates, actually.
SPG - my partner sneered that my talents are wasted, and maybe I should apply to CSI or one of those other crap crime shows he watches.:D
I hope they are not angry I looked at their pictures. I just hoped there was something on there identifying, so they could get it back ASAP. I couldn't believe there was a photo of the husband's name. Such a stroke of luck.
aww thats such a lovely lovely thing for you to do. Im sure they will be over the moon to get there camera back. I lost my camera on 23rd of dec last yr while looking at xmas lights and im so lucky that someone handed it in to the church so i collected it the next day. I know what it feels like to think you've lost all those memories so its suuch a wonderful thing you've done :hugs:

Did it look like they went on facebook often? What a lovely thing you did.. I wouldn't mind if someone looked at my pics if it meant I got my camera back.. Or at the very least the memory card..
No, they hadn't made posts since mid January. But maybe the facebook messages forward to their emails.
I haven't looked up the wife's name on white pages yet. I'll try that now.
Otherwise, I'll try the company on Monday to see if the husband works there.
We seem to be compulsive finders at the moment, as we have found two dogs in the last month as well.

Wow!! You're so cool! Hope the camera finds its way home :)
if you can see the wifes posts on FB does it let you see her email address in her profile page?
I would be very happy you looked through my photos and went to such efforts to find me...
I found a purse in a carpark once, checked it had a licence in it only to find the owner wasn't close local that I could take it to them, so handed to the supermarket in SC incase she retraced her steps to find it (saw her drive off and couldn't call out/catch her in time to tell her but assumed she'd come back before asking police) anyhow a week or so later I got a phone call from the lady that owned the purse and she was sooooo thankful for my honesty, little did I know she had nearly $2000 in her purse that day as she was at the shopping centre to check out a empty shop then left to go pay the agent a deposit to lease that shop for her new business venture... she insisted on meeting me and thanking me in person, made me feel so good to have done the right thing (never crossed my mind to see how much money was in it just wanted the owner to get it back)

Me too! I think its basically another form of stealing.
I left my phone at KMart the other day and someone handed it in to the service desk. I was so so grateful, I always hand stuff in, I'm glad I'm not the only one :)
You rock :) I hope you find the owners.

I bet the lady is so so happy when she sees that facebook MSG! I might actually take a picture of my name & number in case I lose my camera, and if I do hopefully the person who finds it is as honest and lovely as you!

What a wonderful thing to have done. It's people like you who help remind us all that not everyone is like the eternal pessimists often making news headlines.

Just wondering if you had and luck?
I'm on a BH break (2 weeks and counting!), but I thought I would update this thread.
The owner of the camera contacted me in response to my FB message, and came to my work to collect his camera and brought me a bottle of wine last week. He looked a bit like a French film star (it helped that he was French), and was very happy to get his camera back.
So a happy ending.:D
