I love my hemp BBHs and I'm waiting on a bamboo one, should be here soon:fingerscrossed: , before I order more. I've ordered a wool wrap cover to trial too.
But I find the hemp with the inserts, a bamboo booster and a PUL cover or wool soaker are great for night time. And Hugh sleeps from 8-8 usually.:)

mine came today :smiliedance: :smiliedance: as well. I went out earlier to mailbox around 1pm and there was nothing exciting ie bills, overdue library notice. When DH got home he brought in a package and the 1st thing out of his mouth was you bought more nappies. I said to him :shame: Not any nappies BAMBOOO Nappies. He just shrugged.

They are from Babybeehinds www.babybeehinds.com.au
there is a bit of a wait on the orders from them at the moment from what their website says from memory but you can also get them from www.babysoftlandings.com.au
www.darlingsdownunder.com.au

The bamboo are $26.95 and Hemp are $25.95 dont forget you will need a cover for these nappies.

Merlion

they are about $26.00. you can get them from www.babybeehinds.com.au but there's a 4 week waiting period due to an influx of orders plus they have just moved house, www.ozebaby.com.au, http://www.ericanappies.com.au (put in bamboo in search). Ozebaby.com.au has a whole range of different WAHM who make nappies so you have a choice of different nappies.

is $ 26 ecpensive for these types of nappies? i guess they would end up paying for themselves in the end instead of disposables right?

Merlion

Oh yeah and the reusable. I know someone who washes them every couple of days and when they are dry they go back on the bubs

For the length of wear you get out of them (they will last till toilet training) and the quality of the product the $26 is well and truly worth it.

Ohh and they are soooo cute (even with a cover)

this could be TMI here, but i read your post, and i SNORTED with laughter (this is not my usual laugh i promise). it just sounded so familiar to my dh and me!!!

i got fluffy mail from nurture nappies today, bamboo flats, luxury bamboo square (one) and a fine terry tshaped nappy that has a fleece inner, with the back open so it is like a pocket that you can stuff except it looks like a terry nappy (just less bulky). I am mega impressed with how soft the bamboo is, and the instructions say the more you wash it the softer it gets!! how can it get any MORE softer i think to myself!!!!

also got the Baby Beehinds Bamboo in the twilight (purple). Everytime i go past that cupboard, i can't help it, i stroke the BBB - it's just SO soft!!!!

The sherpa nappies feel lovely too i must say. ANd hemp fleece is lovely too.

can't wait for my little arrival so we can try all these out!!!

yeh for fluffy mail. am scared it will get stolen, our front door is so close to the footpath, couriers leave the parcels on front door mat, no where to hide it so in plain sight from footpath. Precious cargo to me!

mumtocharli - baby beehinds bamboo is also sold online and in real life at nature's cradle shop (www.naturescradle.com.au).

many WAHM sites are sold out of the bamboo products (prefolds, flats etc), they are SO popular and now i can see why.

DH said that as I promised I won't buy anymore nappies until December. But I said I pre-ordered them and I been waiting for months for them to come.

I got a laugh out of you stroking the bamboo nappy! I do this too :D
Wait till your little one does a poo in the bamboo and you just want to cry.....then you will know you are a true bamboo fan. I always say to DD when putting on her bamboo nappy "Remember Gabrielle, Don't poo in the Bamboo!!" She of course couldn't give a toss and generally does one anyway. They ALWAYS poo in the good ones!!!!

is $ 26 ecpensive for these types of nappies? i guess they would end up paying for themselves in the end instead of disposables right?

in a nutshell, from what i have read in my nappy research, say you spend $4,000 over the nappy using life of a newborn to toilet training compared to say, forking out $1,000 upfront for cloth nappies - yes, you save a few thousand dollars in the long run.

It sounds alot when you are buying it all at once.
BUt the sposies cost heaps more, it's just that you spend a little every week doing it, prolly don't notice how much it all ends up costing you cos it's spread out over so many years. When you spend it at the start, it seems lots but it's not really.

loads of the cloth nappy sites give you price breakdowns of the two systems and they include electricity, water etc too.

it is what convinced me to go over to cloth cos we are struggling $$$$$.

everything you buy has a pecking order.

in nappies, it seems
bamboo - top of the heap therefore more expensive and then you go down
hemp
sherpa
organic cotton
unbleached cotton
flannelette
terry towelling (although there are different grades, there is bulky terry and very fine terry often called baby terry).

so if the $26 for a bamboo freaks you out, just keep looking at the cloth nappy sites, you'll discover people making nappies out of lots of different fabrics, and therefore, different pricepoints. Like everything there are ways to blow your bucks and ways to conserve your bucks in cloth nappy buying. I researched for about five months online before i started buying nappies. i needed to get my head around the jargon and understand what was going on.

e.g some people might buy a cheaper nappy but put in a bamboo booster/insert - so that where absorbency matters the most, they have the bamboo - instead of having the entire nappy made out of it.

Try to find out where the Nappycinos are in your area, go along to one, everyone brings their stash so you get a great chance to see all these nappies in real life, ask the owners, how do you find this product on your bub, does it work, which is your fave etc.

just some ideas, things that helped me learn about this new area. good luck with it all, it's a steep learning curve, but i'm glad i made the effort (especially BEFORE bub arrives - i doubt i'd have the time once she gets here!!!!).

omgomgomg used the bamboo's overnight last night with no boosters on DD2 who requires her hemp bb sot be boosted and omgomgomg noooo leaks!!!!!! BRILLIANT!!!!

I'm in lurveeee with babybeehind bamboo! I've only got pink ones atm but will have to order some purple ones now :D:D

so excited lol

and financially cloth is sooo much more worthwhile than disposables not only is it heaps cheaper initially but you can use them on future babies (I've got two in fulltime nappies for around another 2 years with both and 1 extra yr for younger DD) and DS is in nappies at night time so they get used with him too!! butttttt... you can resell when you're finished with them too... so you get lots of money back there :D

so in loveee withhhh clothhhhhhhhh

Don't want to be a downer, but please remember that depending on the size of your stash (and therefore rotation) and how you wash/dry them, some of the fitted cloth and pocket nappies may not last the whole nappy-ing life of subsequent children, let alone be in a fit state for resale.

I am only saying this because I have heard a couple (not many) people on another forum complain about the lifespan of their nappies. In a fitted nappy, the first to go is usually the elastic and in PUL pockets it is the PUL that breaks down over time. The best way to combat this (if you plan on using them for more than one child) is to have a large stash from early on so that each nappy has less use.

A rough guideline that I've used (based on daily use) is to expect a Tots Bots original to last the nappying life of 1.5 children and a PUL pocket to last the nappying life of approx 1 child. Assuming the average nappying life is 3 years, 4.5yrs for a fitted and 3 yrs for a pocket isn't bad value still.

Just something to consider when starting out so that you can work out how best to get maximum value for your $$.

most pul pockets are sized though and therefor arent used from birth - toilet trained. They're used for a year or so.. still plenty of life left in them. DD was in her medium sized nappies for approx 8 months and they are in perfect condition still, DD2 is growing into them now and I imagine she'll outgrow them in about 6 months as shes growing much faster... so they'll have had 14 months use... still HEAPS of use left and 'value' if you resell them :D

LOL That's how I justified a mega stash for DS - so we won't need to buy any for #2 but now that we've found out #2 is a girl, I just had to buy some pretty pink ones too :p There should be some sort of support group for this kind of addiction

although, if the elastic does go in a nappy, it can be replaced, continuing the lifespan of the nappies. It is a bit of extra work, and might involve a small cost, but if the nappy is other wise in good nick, they are pretty easy to repair (or get someone to). And if you don't repair them, they are a good 'shaped' nappy, that needs a good cover or to be used when a messy poo isn't expected! ;)

Charmaine,
I'm so glad you are in love with your BBB. We also love ours here too, they are a great night nappy and don't need boosting either.

Fluffy mail is soooo much.
