I would like to get one but when I see pictures I wonder how it can be comfortable for their little legs to be wrapped around the waist like that.

I'm sure it must be fine or babies would hate it and they look pretty happy! Do you use one?

I have one for my son - to be honest, it didn't suit us when he was really young (he didn't like being in the infant insert) but once he was old enough to sit in it facing me (with his legs wrapped around) he loved it. I think I started using it regularly when he was 6 months old - he was pretty heavy so I tended to put him on my back which didn't strain my shoulders so much.

Sometimes I wonder that too, but DD loves it, and seemingly has no problems with her legs wrapped around my waist, even for longer periods of time. I think it would irritate me, butt she's a LOT more flexible and bendy than me

Talia doesn't like it much at the moment, she's still too small to wrap her legs around me comfortably. She's quite happy in small doses though, I'm sure she'll love it when shes a bit bigger.

We loved the heart to heart insert too, it was so good during witching hour with a reflux bub.

well the legs shouldn't be wrapped around the parent until at *least* 4 months - and at that point its how i carry a child anyway  at least, i always carry them on my hip or belly with their legs on either side of my body (even without an ergo).

But HERE (http://blog.babesinarms.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Spinal-Development-and-the-Spread-Squat-position.pdf) is a really interesting document that i found [from a chiropracter website] that explains how infant/toddler hips develop and how the ergo can assist with that :goodvibes:

I hope that helps. I adore my ergo, and my only concern is actually when the children get older (so i'm probably talking once they're 12-18m+ ) that their legs are just dangling, and there is the risk of the ergo digging into a nerve. But i found a US carrier that was basically the ergo+stirrups. So i've gotten around that issue by just making two loops of fabric that i slip around the waistband on each side of my ergo, and that i use as make-shift stirrups for the toddler  (obviously i'll have to change the sizes as she grows, but i think its a nice system to keep the ergo from digging into her thighs :goodvibes:)

I wasn't that mad on it when DD was born. I found it a bit cumbersome tbh. But tonight we realised that she really has just outgrown the newborn insert (she's 7 weeks). Her legs were all still tuck up and we were both so much more comfortable! I doubt her legs will be out the sides for another few weeks.
