Public patient @ Logan with own room

Hi everyone :wave:

Im due to have my bub #2 in April at Logan Hosp. I had my DS there (public) and was very happy with my midwife and the care I had during labour. But sharing a room with four other mothers was driving me crazy.

I had a long & tiring labour & I was exhausted. I had a lady next me with her baby was constantly crying (poor little darling) and another woman snoring so loud and the other one who had visited all day! :banghead:

I really want to find out if I go public can you pay to have your own private room? And how much does this cost?

I'm pretty sure Logan has their own private rooms for private patients.

Any tips would be great

I am not sure, but I would be interested to know as I will have bub #2 at Logan aswell. I was in a single room for a few hours after DS was born, but the moved to a noisey 4 person room :banghead:

You can have your baby at Logan Private and have your own private room.
To have the baby at Logan Public, you may be lucky to get a single room if it is free, but usually it is for mums with multiple births, or ones where the mother/baby isn't well (but obviously the baby is well enough to stay and isnt' sent to SCN or the Mater). If you are lucky to get the single room, you will only have it until someone else needs it, so be prepared to move at any time.

I was under the assumption that the Logan Private Hospital was closed now apart from the specialists that have offices over there........

As for the private rooms in the public sector...I had one, but it was because I was badly damaged.....so other than that Im not sure...Hope all goes well

i will be having my 2nd birth there at logan hospital , as the beaudesert maternity is shut so i really have no other choice as we cant afford private and to be honest i cant see what the difference is going public or private as its free and im tight with my money.....
and as this will be our 4th u dont really stay in the hospital very long these days after you have baby as they try to get u out
but i dont like sharing with 4 peiople 2 people is ok but 4 is a little to much

You can pay for a private room at a public hospital...I work at RBWH and the fees for a private room there are $450 a night....
