Can anyone out there recommend a good sling / carrier for a 15 month plus age group. My DD are not very heavy form 8kg's to arwen who is about 11kg's.
I did have a Babybjorn, but that killed my shoulders and back.
My price range is under $70...

OR has anyone mad a wrap themselves and can guide me in the right direction.

Thanks

Hi

I can't reccomend the ergo carrier enough for bigger bubs. It is just so comfortable and practical, and did I mention comfortable? You can carry on the front, back or hip, and it has a hood you can pull up if they fall asleep. It folds up into its own little bag, and fits a good range or sizes. Have a look at it here

You can buy it in Australia at a few places. PM me if you can't find somewhere.

I also made a mei tai, and found that incredibly comfortable and easy to use too. I used this pattern

But this one is good too

Hope that is helpful to you :)

Sorry I just noticed your price range. An ergo wouldn't fit into that unless you could pick up a second hand one.

You could make a couple of mei tai's for that (or buy one if you preferred).

www.carryingaway.com.au

have a wide range of carriers.

I would suggest the Ergo or Patapum too, well worth the money. You might be able to pick up the older style one on eBay for $70 or so.

Can i suggest you PM Lunar she is making some really cheap

We are getting one on Friday which i cant wait for but we still use our ring sling which was $30 off ebay from a WAHM but you can also try www.ozebaby.com.au as there are a few different types on there !

As i said we still use our ring sling & Boof is 18mths very tall for his age & 14kgs so i use the hip carry with no dramas helps my arms because im not carrying him & i also have them free when im shopping or cleaning to do things. Im trying to get the hang of the back carry & i cant wait because im sure he will love it !

This (http://www.sleepingbaby.net/jan/Baby/index.html) site has lots of patterns if you can sew and even if you cant there is a no sew ring sling. I still carry my almost 3 year old in a ring sling (around to my back). And This (http://www.mamatoto.org/Default.aspx?tabid=184) site has wrap type carriers which only require a long length of material and are suitable for all ages.

I used my babasling to carry my son until he was 2.5yrs old, it was $75 but you can get them second hand for less than that.

If you check ebay, you may get one from o/s second hand. They're a bit new to oz and I haven't seen any 2nd hand on ebay when I've been looking. I ended up buying one new and it's worth the every cent. Babesinarms.com.au or badbacks.com.au were the cheapest when I bought. You can use it 'til they're five so it will pay off. You could try and sell your babybjorn on ebay to help fund the purchase.
