Hi girls,
I don't want to get excited but in the maybe baby instructions it say's that if you get the ferning during the end of your cycle it may be a sign of pregnancy.
Yesterday I used it, i was on CD 23 and I got the full ferning again.
I don't think I would be O as I o'd on CD 14.
I had another post saying that I had two spots of blood on CD 21 and I thought it might have been because I had an urinary infection at the time.
Now I am starting to get excited thinking it was the implantation bleeding.
I don't want to get my hopes up.
Has anyone else experienced this with maybe baby?
What do you girls think?

I actually occassionally ovulate on the last day of my cycle (thus being why I am pg this time). Perhaps you might be the same?

Anyone else??
I got the ferning again today
i found myself in the same boat yesterday and today so I was very happy to read your post :D
I have a 30 day cycle. I O'd on CD17, had partial ferning CD15, full ferns CD16 and MAJOR full ferns CD17.
AND then yesterday CD24 I had little ferning and then TODAY - CD25 I got FULL  ferns!! I too read it could mean pregnancy! I am going to watch it over next couple of days!
5 days till AF is due and hoping this is a sign she stays away! plus looks like my chart might be heading triphasic so I am :fingerscrossed: big time baby!!!! LOL

oh another thing, off track though, is today we put some of DF's spermies on maybe baby and we could see them all swimming like mad men!! was hilarious!! :smiliedance:

OK, so I was reading all the posts on this thread and am very intrigued. I also use Maybe Baby, and I got ferning around CD 10, as per usual, but it wasn't very strong though, mind you i was on night shift and was testing at different times than usual, then for some reason i decided to test on CD 21 and got full on ferning, thought that maybe i really didn't ovulate until then but from reading your posts maybe i'm in the same boat?? I'm now on CD31, my average cycle is 26-28 days but once came on day 30.
How old is your Maybe Baby? Cos I checked my instructions and can't find were it says anything about ferning late and pregnancy??
:fingerscrossed: for you all.

Hi roxy, your chart looks very promising :fingerscrossed:
Hi twinkletot, my maybe baby is brand new, this is the first mth that I have used it.
I don't want to dissapoint you girls but yesterday I rang the support line and the klady said that the ferning late in your cycle is more likely to mean that you are getting AF :(
But I find it odd that it doesn't say that in the instructions, but it does say in the instructions that pregnancy can cause a continious fern pattern.
Who knows.
:fingerscrossed: for all of us

Well Bubbles :fingerscrossed: the lady you spoke to was wrong! I just tested again and got full on ferning, VERY INTERESTING! Hopefully in a week or so we will all know for sure what this means!
I must admit i have tested close to my af before but this is the first time i've got ferning that i can recall and i've been using it for about 7months.

I am due to get AF this sunday.
When are you due twinkletot?
Do you always test at the end of your cycle?
I also just did it again and had the ferning. That's 3 days straight now.
I also had what I think might have been implatation bleeding on CD 21. It was one tiny ball of blood when I went to the toilet and it haoppened twice that day (TMI). I have never had mid cycle spotting before.
The only thing was I had an urinery infection at the same time and read that that can also cause blood in the urine.
I guess I will find out soon enough, even though time seems to be going so slow:banghead:
I hate the waiting game.
Hi  ,
I have been using maybe baby for a few months and always get full ferning for the two days before AF comes. The first month I got really excited because I was told it was a preg symptom only to be really dissapointed when AF did show. So it is possible that you may be preg or it may also mean that AF is coming.
According to the manufacturer it is really common for ferning just before AF.
:fingerscrossed: for you. Hope you get a BFP!

Well i've just done some research cos i am sooo intrigued. So.... Maybe Baby detects the hormone estrogen, so i looked up estrogen and pregnancy and found the following from two different sights
Estrogen regulates progesterone, protecting pregnancy. It also kick-starts one of the major processes of fetal maturation. Without it, a fetus's lungs, liver (http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/1997/03/970321141042.htm) and other organs and tissues cannot mature.
In fact, the placenta would never grow and operate properly if not for estrogen. The following list shows some other known jobs undertaken by estrogen:
- Triggers the maturation of reproductive organs
- Help in the development of sexual characteristics
- Assists in the lactation process
- Regulates bone density in a foetus
- Maintains the endometrium during pregnancy
- Promotes blood flow within the uterus
- Maintains, and regulates and triggers the production of other hormones
- Protects female fetuses form effects of androgens in the mothers system(Andorgens are substances that have a masculinising effect)
I then looked up estrogen and menstruation and found that the levels lower if an egg is not implanted and will begin to rise again toward the end of your bleeding. Now i am no doctor but i think that sounds a little promising, but from what bub2luv has said i am confused.
I'm on cd 31, will wait till sunday to test, :fingerscrossed:. I don't usually test just wait for my af, but since this is the longest i've gone i will test on sunday.

Here is someuseful info - it does say ferning can happen before AF - but can also be a sign of pregnancy.
http://www.maybebaby.com.au/_frequently_asked_questions.php#4 :)
I just found this too at
http://columns.crossmap.com/article/more-on-early-pregnancy-symptoms/57.htm
Early pregnancy symptoms could be:
Frequent urination
Nausea
Food cravings/aversion
Prominent blue veins on the breast
Extreme fatigue
Higher basal temperatures
Lack of PMS
Spotting at around 1 week post ovulation
Cramping at around 1 week post ovulation
Any of these symptoms can be present, or none if pregnant. Some other ways of determining pregnancy is seeing the ferning patterns on an ovulation microscope. This is because when pregnant both estrogen and progesterone is raised, thus the presence of the properties in saliva that causes ferning while fertile will possibly cause ferning while pregnant.

Thanks girls for doing some research:thumbsup:
The info sounds very promising and interesting.
I had some cramping today, a bit more than normal. I hope AF stays away for us all.
It will be very interesting to find out the mystery theory of the ferns!
Make sure you let us know how you all go.

This is the e-mail that one of the staff at paedpharm sent me in regards to our issue with "maybe baby". So I guess it is a 50/50 chance of pregnancy
Dear Tina,
First we would like to thank you for purchasing the Maybe Baby.
Then to answer your request, the fern pattern could appear because you will have your period soon, but you could as well be pregnant (be careful, some women see ferns all the time when they are pregnant, other don’t).
I would advise you to wait until your period comes and if not, make a pregnancy test.
Wish you good luck ;-) and don’t hesitate to contact me again, if you need any further information.
Kind regards,
Adeline Roy

Well I pulled the maybe baby out of the cupboard and it was ferning for me.
today i noticed my cervical fluid is now creamy and white. (it was sticky before this). have also noticed it with a yellow tinge on my underwear, so i looked it up and found this, which could be another thing to add to our hopeful BFP's!
After ovulation, the cervical fluid will dry up or become creamy. This is due to the progesterone which warms the body. As the body gets ready to start another menstrual cycle the fluid usually becomes wet again, almost mimicking the egg-white like fluid. However, if you are pregnant, the cervical fluid becomes creamy - I’ve even heard some women say it becomes more yellow in color, too. Pregnant women produce a lot of cervical fluid. But the presence or absence of fluid does not determine pregnancy. source: http://www.thebabycorner.com/page/1336/ (http://www.thebabycorner.com/page/1336/)
Have any of you girls got creamy cf?? sorry if TMI :o

I can't say that was one of my first symptoms. The cramping was the obvious sign for me. I would think omg my period is coming and race off to the bathroom with pad/tampon in my hand to find nope nothing there.
I would say the creamy CM didn't really become noticeable till later on for me;)

can i ask how many days before AF was due did you start getting cramps? i just started today getting continual AF style cramps and mine is not due for 5-6 days away. i have read many people get cramps as a sign of pregnancy.

i started cramps today, they are towards the front below my belly button - quite a weird niggling, annoying, pain really - hard to describe!!
what are your like?
found this great site - www.twoweekwait.com (http://www.twoweekwait.com)
and it has people who got a BFP tell us what symptoms they got, from 1DPO till their BFN.
I saw this one below from one of the girls who posted her symptoms and this exactly how I would describe the cramping i am getting:
10 DPO - Cramping throughout the day, like AF but different. Deep, about 3 inches below belly button. Felt like "pulling" inside, but isn't very painful like AF. I never cramp before AF only the day of so this was a flag. VERY irritable. Didn't want anyone around me!!!
That is my day today to a 'T'!!!! including the irritable part!
i am feeling more hopeful with all these little signs..:fingerscrossed:

Hey thanks for that link Roxy76, that was great! Sounds promising.
My cramps are exactly the same as what you posted from that site.
And today i am 10 DPO as well.
It was a sort of pulling/niggling in my stomach, as you described!
Today I am feeling ok but the past few days I have been very irritable too.
The only thing, they all seemed to have the creamy CM, mine was sticky today.
When they say "watery" CM...what do they mean? Sorry, silly question:rolleyes:
I will check to see tommorrow if it is ferning again.

Well i just checked and still have ferning. But i need to ask you a question, before i do i'll quickly fill you in on my journey :o , have been ttc for 8 months, the length of my cycles so far have gone like this; 26, 28, 27, 30, 27, 26, 24. It's now day 32 and still no af, been having slight cramps since day 30, last night and this morning been going to the loo alot, sooo.... i got excited and did a test this morning but it was neg. ( I am getting to the question :p ). Well you see there wasn't even an hour between toilet trips when i tested and was wondering if this can give a neg result.

hi twinkletot,
it sounds very promising :fingerscrossed:
32 days seems to be long cycle for you. So if AF hasn't turned up today I would be getting very excited too!
Going to the toilet a lot is also a good sign.
With my DS, I did a HPT on CD 32 and got a BFN. I got my BFP about two days later.
Maybe you O'd later in your cycle and that's why you got a BFN.
I know it's hard but maybe try again tommorrow or the next day if AF hasn't arrived.
I have my :fingerscrossed: for you. It definately sounds promising!
I just did the "maybe baby" test again and it wasn't really ferning. Now it is just sort of in the transition stage, I can only see lines, but no ferns. I wonder what that means? I think it must be telling me that AF is coming. :(

It is really frustrating as I don't know what the transition/ferning in late cycle really means. I so hope it means a BFP for us girls :D

 I really should do some house work too.
My Af is due sunday.
I would really like to wait and test on monday if AF doesn't arrive but I will probably give in and test on sunday morning
My DS was a honeymoon baby, so he was conceived first mth.
I of course thought it would happen first time around.
This is now our 4 mth of TTC :banghead:
We have been using Lub the whole time and I think this might have something to do with me not getting preg. I was unaware that it can effect fertility. So I bought pre-seed (sperm friendly) lub. So if AF arrives we will use it next mth and see how that goes.
I know 4mths isn't long as other people have been trying for much longer, it's just that it happened first time for us with DS.
I have this horrible feeling that AF is on it's way.
But then again the last three mths, I was convinced that I was preg
So maybe this is the mth!
guess what?? i think i just got implantation bleeding!!! i just went to the toilet and had few streaks of blood on toilet paper when i wiped myself!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Today I got no ferns at all, so now I am convinced AF is on the way:(
Today I have had no cramps either.

I told my DH that i'm late and he said he doesn't want me to test until cd35, but we compromised on cd34 cos i start night shift tomorrow night and would like to test before then.

I had the same problem, TWW is two week wait and ferning is what maybe baby does when it detects estrogen in your system. If you look up maybe baby website it will explain it in more detail.
There's actually a thread that tells you about all the abbreviations. On the home page of the forums its near the top. Let me know if you can't find it.

To be honest I'm not sure? I haven't taken much notice of it at this time of the mth.
Yea, I think I will try and hold off until monday to test. Even if i was preg it prob wouldn't even show up on a HPT tomorrow anyway. With DS it didn't show up for quiet awhile so it was a bit of a shock when it finally did come up.

hey girls...how are we? this afternoon I got a little more brown/pink colour stuff when going to toilet (sorry if TMI!), little crampy too. Woke up with WORST headache this morning!! and only just got rid of it about 1ish after having lunch!
this waiting is fun huh  NOT!!! :p
today is 11DPO, did a test but got negative. but from replies to a post i did on what DPO you got a BFP and from reading, most don't get a BFP at least DPO 13, 14, 15 or later, so I am not worried right now - cause if the symptoms are right, things could go BFP!
at least we get to chat here while we wait! I am not testing again till next Monday or Tuesday, HPT's are not cheap!!!
what a gorgeous day in melbourne today :smiliedance:

twinkletot I just checked again and nothing but bubble things. I'm guessing I am out of the running this mth:(
Thats good news about the sore boobs:thumbsup:
Hi Roxy, your having all the right signs too:thumbsup:
Yes don't be in a hurry to test, as others said it can take awhile to show up on a HPT. Easier said than done I know
It helps that a few of us girls are going through the exact same thing! But the wait is so hard. I don't think I can handle another mth of this!
I think I am going to be a bit depressed if AF does arrive.
I just have to stay positive and know tht it will happen when it is suppose to.
twinkletot
16-09-2006, 13:29
I know how depressing it can be, i always tell myself that it's ok if af shows up cos there'll be next month, but seriously who am i kidding, so far i get a bit depressed. :fingerscrossed: it doesn't come this month.
Bubbles don't get depressed - at least not till af shows up and remember you know that you can get pregnant cos you've got a beautiful DS :yelclap: .
May babies grow in our bellies
Twinkletot,
my AF is due 19th/20th September, usually average 30-31 days. So only 3-4 days away!!! not long now till I get to know! my temps are still up http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/12f23e so that is giving me hope!
i have read that in the few days leading up to when AF is due, many feel AF style symptoms and cramps but then find out they are pregnant, so team this with implantation bleeding - things might be ok.
I am so glad though we can chat about it here. Sometimes it feels like we are scrutinising every little whim, but why not! LOL we want to have a baby and we are allowed to get excited and hold that window of hope, and if it is negative, we will be here again next month!!! (but hopefully not! :shame: )
when is everyone else here due for AF???

16-09-2006, 13:49
Thanks twinkletot your right, I know I can get preg...the proof is in the pudding so to speak!
I just get a little depressed the day AF arrives and am usually much better the next day.
Roxy, I think you are a sure thing!!
Best of luck to you girls.

I really hope so bubbles!!! :fingerscrossed:
i think i just got more implantation bleeding - when i wiped myself, it was like a brown pinky. i have heard you can get it over a couple of days and that is why some mistake it for a period. man i am stressing!!! hmmmmmmmmmmm
twinkletot
16-09-2006, 15:08
:fingerscrossed: for us all!!!!
I haven't had any type of bleeding at all, but hey i don't want any.
Just did maybe baby again and still ferning. Did you give it another go bubbles?
Roxy you are right it is nice to be able to share the journey with other people who are going through the same thing.
Another thing i've noticed is that i have broken with pimples on my back and chest which is not a normal thing for me. :fingerscrossed: it's all related and i get the result i'm wishing for.
I am looking forward to testing tomorrow but am wondering if it's too early, it will be day 34, that's late for me, but i've read some people don't get a positive until alot later?

twinkletot
16-09-2006, 15:38
Only have only monitored it since ttc, are the cycle lengths have been 26, 28, 27, 30, 27, 26, 24, so 33 is a big one for me.

Goodmorning,
OK... well i test and got a BFN, still no sign of af though and it's day 34, although i still feel like i'm going to get it.
I guess i'm not out of the race till it comes. Am a little confused cos i really believed i'd get a BFP :banghead: . Will wait a week and test again, if still a BFN will go to the doc's. :fingerscrossed: af stays away.
Did you guys test today?

I am CD29 which is about 12DPO for me and I did a test and got a BFN :( BUT I am not giving up hope, cause my chart looks good and my temps are still up http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/12f23e
Plus from reading other's BFP's, the majority of BFP's happened 14 & 15DPO, often not coming up till AFTER AF was due. So I am still having my :fingerscrossed: and u should too!!
twinkletot
17-09-2006, 09:55
Yeah i guess i haven't given up hope but feel a bit dissappointed, had quite alot of cramping like my af was coming on days 30, 31, 32, 33 but not much at all today. i'm not sure how many days past o i am but :fingerscrossed: i've just taken those tests to early.

Sorry about your BFN's
Don't stress, all the good signs are still there. As long as AF stays away, u will be right:fingerscrossed:
Well my AF was due today and she hasn't arrived yet :smiliedance:
I have had quiet alot of watery CM, any idea what that means?
I have been needing to go to the toilet quiet a lot too.
I think I o'd on CD15, so Af could come tomorrow.
Put it this way, at least none of us have AF yet!
Di you get ferns today? I didn't.
I am going to do a HPT tomorrow I think.
twinkletot
17-09-2006, 19:18
Hey bubbles
Good to hear af hasn't arrived.
You are right it's a good sign for all of us :smiliedance: .
I have had ferns today but no where as near as strong as the last few days, but i must admit that i'm a bit sick (sore throat, blocked nose etc  ) so maybe that could have something to do with it???????
:fingerscrossed: af stays away and we all get the results we long for.
Feel like ****...... and have to get ready for work :gloomy: !
Let us know how things go with hpt. I'm not going to test again until Friday.

Good morning girls
I hope there is still no sign of AF for you girls:fingerscrossed:
OMG! OMG! OMG!
:smiliedance: I got a BFP this morning! :smiliedance:
I can't beleive it!
I am still in shock.
I got up at 5am this morning needing to go to the toilet and thought I should do the test now as that was my first moring urine.
I was half asleep, looked at the test after about 30 secs and nothing came up so I thought it was negative. I was going to throw it in the bin but ended up leaving it on the bathroom vanity.
I get up this morning and to my amazement it was a BFP!
I hope it is accuarate though because I looked at it 3hrs later.
I am going to doc this afternoon and I guess he will make me do another one to make sure.

Thanks heaps girls.
I really have my :fingerscrossed: for you and hope you can join me.
However after reading the instructions on the preg test I am a little worried.
It say's if you read the results passed 10min you can get false positive readings:(
I am going to buy another HPT today to make sure.
When are you going to test Roxy?
i am CD30 (13DPO) today and AF is due tomorrow or Wednesday. Silly me did an early test today and got BFN, but will be doing one tomorrow or maybe even wait till Wednesday...just so hard waiting and not knowing and hoping for the best!:fingerscrossed:

Glad to hear both of your AF's have stayed away :smiliedance:
Thanks twinkletot. I'm so glad to hear that you don't have Af yet:fingerscrossed:
I just got home from the doc, he said my due date is the 28th May:yelclap:
I got a referrel to Dr dennis Price. I have decided to go to him as I have heard so many raps about him on here.
The maybe baby is weired! The last few days I have had no ferns as you know but then when I went to use it the next time I looked at the old saliva and there would be a few ferns that had developed???
Do you still have the ferns? When are yopu going to do a HPT?
I so hope you girls can join me in the may thread:fingerscrossed:

Still getting ferns, but like you not all the time, i truly believe there is an art to using Maybe Baby.
I would love to join you in the may thread but i'm sooo scared to test  .

Thanks again twinkletot:thumbsup:
Well I did a HPT on Day 14 PO and I got the BFN.
Today was 16 DPO for me.
So for you I would wait till you are at least 16DPO to get the most accurate reading. When will you be 16DPO? Is it tomorrow? I know it's hard but maybe see if you can wait until Wed to test again.
Don't be scared or nervous. I look at it this way.."if it's meant to be, it's meant to be". I think the signs look really promising for you so hang in there :hugs:

Thank you, am feeling a bit low at the moment but your posts keep me smiling :) .
Today is CD 35 so 14 dpo (that's assuming that i'm correct in saying i o'd on CD 21). I guess i will test some time before the end of the week.
I hope that you have a smooth pregnancy, do you have any symptoms at the moment?
bubbles28
18-09-2006, 17:06
I hope you feel better soon:hugs:
It's funny, I had more signs the last few mths. I was certain I was preg and started feeling all the symptoms only to get AF. The mind is a very powerful thing!
I really have had no symptoms at all. My boobs have just started to get a little tingly, that's all.
I really thought I wasn't preg. The only hope that I was hanging onto was the fact that I had the spot of blood at 6DPO.
You hang in there.
i am so happy for u!!! good to get it confirmed at Doc's now you know for sure!!!
I have had spotting when I wipe on and off the last 3-4 days. I had a look at a particular website where they have chart galleries and there was a section on implantation bleeding and lots of people there had it for more than a couple of days and are pregnant, so that made me more hopeful.
AF is due tomorrow, no sign of it so far (beside brown/pink spotting) but hoping that is implantation, as I have never started spotting 4 days before AF arrived.
So you didn't get a BFP till DPO16!! that is good news for me. It is DPO13 for me today, so I am deciding whether to test tomorrow or wait till DPO16 on Thursday?? decisions!! have had negatives all week, but as we say not uncommon this early.
:fingerscrossed: the wicked AF witch stays away tomorrow :shame: and my temperature stays up in the morning!
oh today is the first day that i have had nausea and feeling really dizzy and sick and smells of things are strong and turning me off!!!! its yucky! spent most of day in bed with that and a headache!
anyway enough babbling from me!! thanks for "listening" (reading) :D

It's still looking good for us Roxy :fingerscrossed: .
I hope af stays away for you. I tested about 13 dpo and got a bfn, still no sign of af though and had cramps like i was getting af from day 31 to 33 and a little on cd34. My bbs are a bit sore, not all the time though.
Good luck
May babies grow in our bellies
bubbles28
18-09-2006, 18:40
Yes that brown/pink spotting near the time AF is due is likely to be the implantation bleeding. :fingerscrossed:
If Iwere you I would wait to at least 16DPO to test again. It avoids the dissapointment of a negative result. Easier said then done, I know!
I am accually surprised I got my BFP so early. With DS it took a bit longer.
Your symptoms sound good too.
Let us know how you are feeling tomorrow and good luck:fingerscrossed:

Hi all
Well i thought i'd update you with Maybe Baby.
I tested this morning and yes i'm still ferning, so now i've been ferning for as long as this threads been going (5 days i think), I got cramping like af was coming on day 30 and it lasted for about 4 days, my bbs started to ache on day 34 but not much, they still ache off and on now but hardly anything at all, i've done tests and got BFN's:banghead: . So that puts me here, CD 36 (i've never been this late, 30 is the longest cycle i've had since our 8mths TTC) i'm about 15 DPO and about 7 days since af should have arrived, have no idea what's going on with my body.
So i'm still on the journey to discover how Maybe Baby really works!
I WISH FOR A BABY TO GROW IN MY BELLY
Congrats to those who've got BFP's and goodluck to those still trying :hugs:

When are you going to test again?
Sounds very promising as this is a lot longer than your other cycles:fingerscrossed:
I hate this waiting game, it's so hard. Hang in there, I know what it's like.
Thta'ts a good sign that you still have the ferning.
The only real symptoms I have been having is going to the toilet more reg and I have noticed the veins in my hands are more noticeable.
Keep us updated:fingerscrossed: :fingerscrossed:
twinkletot, maybe you should go to docs for blood test and see what it says! u r strong waiting so long!! i would have been there by now LOL
I got AF yesterday and also had full ferning yesterday and nearly full ferning today - but they say you can get ferning around time of AF.
Good luck :fingerscrossed:

Yeah maybe i should but i'm scared!
I checked today and still got full on ferning, that's 8 days now! My DH said that he thinks i'm baking a baby, I sooo hope that he's right!
Still no sign of af.
We move into a new house in a week so thought maybe i'd test just before then. I know, I know.... I keep putting off testing but i spoke to a friend of my sister's yesterday who told me that for her DD she got a BFP at 9 weeks. OMG! If af has not arrived by end of next week i'll troddle off to the docs.

I feel no different to when I wasn't preg. With DS I didn't get any symptons until about 5 weeks, which I guess I will be 5 weeks in a few days!
I'm hoping the symptoms stay away!
